The Trial of Osborne Montague for the heinous murder of Rosemund Reed is now underway. These are dramatic times in Verona and tensions are high. As the trial draws to a close and a verdict is rendered, those tensions bubble over into the Verona Riots! The city streets are a battleground as people let the passions carry away their good sense. People are separated from one another, storefronts are destroyed, property is trashed and violence abounds on Fair Verona’s beautiful streets!

As night descends on October 5th, the power is lost, mobile towers stop working, and people are cut off from one another. The citizens of Verona are in the City, somewhere, some are injured and some feel compelled to go find their loved ones out and among the potentially dangerous crowds.

Welcome to our first plotted event of year three! The Riots of Fair Verona. We welcome each of our players to approach the main with plot ideas for their muses.

For injuries, we will permit the following:

Four (4) serious injuries - requiring a maximum one week hospital stay

Ten (10) minor injuries - requiring a maximum overnight in the hospital

If a character was injured during the Halloween fire plotted event then that same character should not be injured in this event.

If you wish to discuss an injury plot, please message the main. We must be advised on the main of all injuries, however minor, so they can be recorded.

We welcome all plots. We’d love to see a variety of moments and connections between characters as they survive this harrowing experience. We encourage players to explore ideas with other players or characters that may be outside your character’s usual connections. This is an ideal opportunity for unlikely pairings or groups to occur. The only plots we will ban for this event are any involving sexual assault or injury to children/animals. These are triggering and detract from the intended fun of this event.

We want to accommodate all of our players (and all their timezones) so we will log but not respond to plot requests until September 22nd. Your plot must be submitted to the main by that date so that admin have time to discuss in detail. Please make sure the consequences of your plot are realistic. We are not trying to discourage creativity but we just want to make it fair and to ensure there is no duplication or people feeling left out.

Retired Characters may participate in this plotted event. Please advise the main if you wish to have one of your retired characters added to the list.  

If you do not wish for one or more of your characters to participate in this plotted event, please message the main to indicate where that character will be that night.  You may choose to only have some of your characters participate but all must be accounted for.  We will keep a record.

By the time of the Riots, you will all know the verdict of the trial but we are not giving away this information in advance. Plot accordingly.

In game, the entire event takes place from around 6:00 pm on the 5th of October and goes well into the following day. OOC we will stretch this event from October 5th to October 7th at midnight EST. As of midnight EST on the 7th of October, threads may wrap up but no new starters should be posted for during the riots.

THE GRAND OPENING

Family Message

Please join us on Sunday June 23rd for the Grand Opening of the poolhouse and event centre on the grounds of the Romano Estate.

Starting at 1:00 pm, this Grand Opening shall run until the wee hours of the morning. Accommodation will be made available on the Estate for those who do not wish to drive back into the City at the conclusion of the event. We shall conclude the event with fireworks. If you wish to swim, facilities will be available of course.

Please invite guests. This is a special event and we look forward to seeing you all there.

OOC NOTES:

Literally everyone is invited to this event but it is mandatory for family. Special guests of family members may be subject to scrutiny. This is the Romano Family after all.

We can basically have this event consume the dash next weekend with a fancy breakfast served at the Estate on Monday morning.

Mateo had just finished wiping off the table from the last group of painters when he spotted a patron trying to lift one of the heavier pumpkins from the arranged display. “Hey, careful - let me get that. Don’t hurt yourself.” He picked up the pumpkin himself, nodding over the table. “This the one you’re wanting to paint?”

Lilith watched the Royal Ballet with great intrigue. She wasn’t a dancer by trade, but Lilith knew she could have outperformed most of them if she were. Even the necessary skill she did accrue throughout her career in musical theater would have been enough, she thought. 

After the performance was over, Lilith scoffed under her breath as she watched the rabble gather to meet the dancers. They should have been lining up for her autograph, she thought as she retreated the opposite way. 

If she wasn’t going to get the attention she wanted from the crowd, she’d just have to find it elsewhere.

To the citizens of fair Verona and its surrounding territories,

As the deadline for the Decree issued by my worthy and noble father, Prince Charles Escalus of Verona, is quickly approaching, I wish to add further clarity to the Decree.

If by the 31st day of August of this year, there have not been a dozen claims between the family Capulet and the family Montague, these two families shall be exiled from fair Verona and its surrounding territories. 

For further clarity, that means that all operational businesses shall be under the management of a trust pending their sale. All funds must be transferred to accounts and holdings in other jurisdictions. Every noted member of each of these two families shall be forcibly removed from the City if they have not relocated willingly by the 30th day of September. We have detailed records and will not accept any attempts to resile or remove yourself from either of these two families that did not occur prior to the date of the initial Decree. 

The only exceptions to this exile Decree shall be those too ill and unwell to be safely moved from the hospital or other such medical or long term care facility and those who must remain due to the order of a lawful Court of Verona.

I trust you will govern yourself accordingly.
