Have you ever spotted a fairy lantern? Members of the genus Thismia, these plants don’t use chlorophyll to photosynthesize. Instead, they feed on fungi in the soil. Growing just a few centimeters tall, their unusual-looking, vibrant flowers bloom briefly to attract pollinating insects—like fungus gnats. There are more than a hundred known species of this elusive plant around the planet, ranging from parts of Asia to Australia to the Americas.

I made a fairy lantern out of a Pixlings container! I caught Cosmo and Wanda!!
Last month, Amazon had a sale on a Pixlings doll, so I finally got one! She came in this cool container, so I wanted to recycle it, so, since it already was for fairies, why not put the Fairly Oddparents in it? especially bc Im obsessed with the og series and a new wish rn lol
It was really easy, I just drew the silhouettes on one paper, then them as goldfish on the other, slid them both into the inner tube, slid in battery-operated fairy lights (with a timer!) into it, then! Poof! I was done!
The inner tube has a sticker on one side (to help with the pixling reveal), so that's where I positioned their fairy forms! It helps blur their silhouettes so it looks more like they might be in there when the lights are on! though, if you wanted to, you can easily peel it off !
I'm really proud of how it came out!! I like how I was able to utilize the "reveal" function of the container, so that way it's like if someone tried to get a look at what the fairies looked like, they would just poof into goldfish!
I think I'm gonna use it as a nightlight whenever I take a late nap, bc having a light on somewhere in my room always makes it easier for me to get up and not just get lazy and go back to sleep, lol
also, I just checked Amazon, and as of posting, there are 3 more Pixlings on sale - all for around $5!! they're usually about $20!! that's crazy!!! - so if anyone wanted a Pixling of their own, check it out!
Then, when you have the container left over, you can make your own fairy lantern!!! you could put a normal fairy silhouette! or Tinkerbell! or one of her friends! or a sprite from Johnny and the Sprites! or a mermaid! or a dragon! or! or! or!!! whatever you think would look cool captured in a bottle!!!!
This "squid-like plant" was just discovered in Japan. It lives underground, eats fungi, and belongs to a group of plants called fairy lanterns. Plants don't usually find their way on to my page, but I want to remember this one, named "Tanuki's Candle Holder."

Fairy Lantern is a beautiful webcomic, and the story has elements of G/T and mystery!! The plot has connections to the main character's memories, so I thought that it fit today's prompt! The art style is gorgeous, and I love the way that this artist draws fairies!! It is also pretty hilarious! The webcomic is still updating, and I'm excited to see the story unfold!! 😁
