Fairies are such magical, powerful creatures, yet they are the most fragile beings here on Earth. People, who are kind in their hearts always tried to protect them, and in return - were granted wishes and presents from fairies.
Unfortunately, as it is known, greed tend to take human hearts and souls. Peace between magical and mortal was broken as soon as the first fairies were harmed. Femine hit those mortal, then came floods... Yet, humans didn't stop hunting. And the worse situation was - the more fairies they wanted. Humans believed that those fairies they capture - will grant their wishes in order to save their lives. But they were wrong, very wrong.
But, every life form has its unique d3ath. And after a fairy would pass - she will leave fairy dust. Such dust was so powerful - it could undo deseases, grow crops even in the desert and if a meal had at least one particle of such dust - it was the greates meal one would ever taste. That is beacause fairies were led into this world to help humans, wether they are alive or not. But such quality pushed mortals over the edge, they began to hunt fairies even more, not caring for creature's lives no more.
The most powerful of them - the night sky fairies... Their lives were too short-lived, too abrupt. Gem is the only one who escaped, bound to live with a burden, bound to always run away...
Thankfully, she isn't all alone - her friend, a rare species frog she called Hetty, is always with Gem. Wether they are flying away from danger, or catching a deserved break.
She is a child of the ocean, caring for all the living and whats not in it. Though be careful - get her bad side and she'll go 'tsunami' (aka 'go berserk'). She can be a tad over her head about herself, but with all she does for the ocean - she deserves a little ego-time.

Meet Sunshine! (Well, nit her official name, but it describes her very good)
She is very friendly, gossipy and a biiiiit (aka a lot) nosy. She is that type of girl who wakes up to see sunrise every day. She will always help you through tough times, tho be careful when u trust a secret to her - she will, accidentally, spill. Sunshine never means harm, she just can't hold it in her too long.
'Please don't tell it was a BIG secret' - Sunny said with her eyes so big they could just pop any second, and then she began apologizing for like an hour...
Unfortunately for her, her positivity and activness sometimes plays a bad role. After all - she cannot just simply hide in her little flower house too long - humans are after fairies now. But, she and other 'Sunshines' are together most of the time so they can protect each other and find a new place, a safe home for them and for other fairies too!
That's why Sunshine fairies are loved - they always stay positive! Well... Most of them anyway...

This is just one of the fairies who let their inner darkness take over. A sad sight, yet a very powerful creature. Once, a fairy of the flowers, protectors of the fields and the forests - she is now a disruptive warrior, ready to fight the mortal humans at any point.
Why did she turn? Why don't all the fairies do that? Well, some, just like sunshine fairies, want to believe in a better tomorrow. It's easier for them to run away, than to give into the dark thoughts completely. Perhaps, their positivity will get them into lots of danger, but they will be true to themselves and to Mother Nature.
Those who turned, and there are plenty, use their powers not much to protect others, but to destroy everyone and everything in their way of 'paying' the humans. The only thing they know - is how to k1ll, destroy.
By their nature - fairies can't harm, well, Nature. Humans are included. So to fight back they need to be sneaky about that rule. They can only stop mortals for a little while, confuse them, or perhaps make them fall asleep for a while.
The Dark fairies are a whole other story... They were the once to poison mortals, bring floods and famine into the villages. When they turn - they loose themselves, while gaining power, that none shall bare alone. They loose their names too. Names are sacred for the fairy kind and those who turn become 'a nobody', a void. No name - none to blame, one might think. But with no name - fairy no longer knows herself, no longer remembers her past, the only memory she has - is that last one, the one that put her over the edge. It's dangerous and most times forever.
Why did they turn? Well, this one, for example, witnessed her whole family (and by that we mean the whole village of her kind) be enslaved and eventually k1lled by the greed and power-hungry humans. It's a terrible sight to see. She wanted to be helpless no more, so she turned and those who mistreated her kind - were punished. There's only silence now where she lived. Terrifying, endless silence. Nothing grows on that land anymore, it became a desert. An example to all the mortals...
Will she turn back? Or would she d1e trying to avenge those she lost? Perhaps, when the war will be over we will know. Hopefully, she won't be too far gone...
Once known as Aniria, she now roams the world under the name of 'The Fallen'. People, fairies and other creatures have many legends about her.
"One of a kind" some say...
"Just another victim" some argue...
"She is the pain of our world" is written in the fairy legend.
The Fallen is the ultimate warrior - no compassion in her heart, just blind rage and pain. She will destroy all those she considers enemy to her kind. All those, who once didn't spare her family, her mate and her friends.
Some say she crossed the line of 'no return'. But most believe that she can be saved, because in the times dark as midnight only hope may bring back those who has fallen.
I might have gone heavy on her Fallen side, but I really love the artificial heart part. It adds some symbolism imo. So here are some more pictures:
You don't really think that there are only fairies in the Fairylands? I mean, the name suggests it, sure. And yet you are mistaken - for in the dark shadows, under the burning sun, wherever the wind reaches - thousands upon thousands of creatures roam this world. The lands, the waters and, of course, the air.
On this occasion, let's talk about those, who happily rest under the burning Sun of Fairyland. If your journey ever shall bring you to The Desert and the cities located in it - you shall always remember:
The most important rule of The Desert: don't listen to the serpents!
Serpents are majestic, mesmerizing creatures that roam this world for centuries. Lots of legends were made about them. Though in some of them they possessed another name, that of their close sisters - 'The Sirens'.
Serpents and Sirens - similar in loads of ways are different as ice and fire. A serpent's blood runs through her hot as lava and she mesmerizes her pray mostly with her eyes, not voice. But even the most quiet of sounds can hypnotize you, so be aware - for if you shall fell under her spell nothing will ever help you out of it!
Now, let me tell you about the serpent you see here. She has been roaming this world for centuries and is speculated to be one of the oldest creatures to be alive. Even though serpents possess great danger to mortals - there were always fools who liked the challenge of stealing gold and jewelry from the creatures of The Sun.
Legends have it - those who were able to trick the serpents became the richest people ever to walk the Fairylands. *The Foolssss... They never read the ressst of the sssstory...* Well, yes, the rest of the legend isn't pretty. Those, who 'escaped' or 'tricked' the serpent were forever cursed to be under her spell. For all that belong to her was poisoned.
*I remember the firsssssst mortal to walk into my trap...* Ahh, yes, poor sailor, who was challenged by his friends to walk into her lair. He walked out, to everyones' surprise, yet was never the same.
Those, who were 'lucky' to walk out wouldn't live long after. They would become the puppets of serpents, their eyes into the world only to return back to the lair and become another prized possession in the serpent's collection.
But I got too far from the subject. Malika is a rare sight in her kind. She gets out of her lair a lot to study, observe and learn how to act like a mortal. She is precise in her act, trying to find those who sinned to take them off the streets, to keep those innocent safer. With each century her routine becomes harder. Fairylands are changing, so do its people.
Those, who have power, who were once considered Gods - are now pray and slaves for mortals. Fairies are killed each day, serpents hunted from their poison, wealth and knowledge. Now, in order to keep herself safe, she shall be much more careful.
*Humanssss... They thiiink they won... They thiiink they rid of ussss... Shhhhould've thought again... I shhhal not sssspare thossse, who hurt my sssissstersss, my childeren...* Oh she will make them pay. Little did the fools know how easy she was on them before.
Now, my dear mortals, remember - The Desert is a danger of a place, you must be aware of who you are talking to or it might be the last conversation you will have...
Malika was inspired by the song 'Serpent' by Tommee Profitt, Sam Tinnesz and Jung Youth.
Absolutely loved creating her and her lore and having a little conversation with her. Hope you will like the lore too, and, btw, do tell me if I shall try to do more of such posts! And what do u think of Fairyland overall?)
