Do you know what it means to have faith like potatoes? Well if you think of how you grow potatoes then you would know what is needed in order for them to grow. Basic needs. Water, sunlight, soil. Sounds perfectly easy right!
Now lets say that there is a drought and you are receiving no water but sun. The ground is hard and the soil is dry. How can potatoes grow? Now if your a farmer people rely on you for potatoes and markets rely on buying them to sell. How can you provide if there isn't water. Well you would need to be praying and Trusting God that it would work it's self out and you would get rain so to water your crop of potatoes so they can grow. Your never guaranteed it will or wont rain.Your always just trusting and praying that it will.
I would like to think that I have faith like potatoes!!Well because, this past week God was really working within me and testing me to see whether my faith was authentic or not. Did I really trust Him as much as I said I did? Was I really truly believing that He could do anything? Would I remain faithful even until the end?
Well I am heading to Kings Castle In El Salvador this summer for 2 months to be a short term missionary(intern) there. In order to go just like any other mission trip you need to fund raise. So I was very fortunate and blessed that my church was able to sponsor me tremendously which was enough to cover majority of my expenses to say the least. All I had to do was gather enough for my plane fare, and my own personal items etc. Now here's the tricky part. The week of the 18 I still did not have my plane ticket. Prices were raising and time was crunching and anxiety started to creep in.
I knew I was meant to go to El Salvador. The Lord was clear to me when He laid it on my heart to go and when I began to pray about it, He confirmed it to me in many different ways. So I kept trusting that somehow someway God would provide a way for me to go. Asking for sponsors to help raise enough for a ticket was difficult. Some people couldn't afford it or just didn't want to, so I began to lose hope. The whole journey of finding out I was going I was so confident and faithful and said no matter what happens I'm going. But now this obstacle is in the way and things have now changed. Now I wasn't so confident, so positive or even hopeful. Even though I knew that providing this was so small in Gods eyes, and that if indeed it was His will for my life to go that I would go, I still let doubt, fear and anxiety get the best of me.I was at the point where I began to realize that I wasn't trusting in God. I wasn't fully trusting nor believing that he could provide. That this small request is not too big for Him to do. If he could keep Daniel safe in the lions dead then what would prevent him from providing me a way to go and serve as He has called me to do?
So i began to really push this out of my head. Stop worrying about it, and just lay it at His feet and let him take care of it as I would do my part in asking for sponsors. I went through the week of fasting, praying and just truly releasing this all onto Him. Then Sunday May 25. 2014 By the Grace of God, I received more funds from sponsors who I went on my first missions trip with last year and was enough to book my plane ticket. THANK YOU JESUS!!!! I stayed faithful till the end even though I had my moments of doubt. But GOD IS ALWAYS FAITHFUL!!! He came through right at the very end to truly see if I would remain faithful even up until the last day.
I share this because, whatever it may be that you face, always remember to keep trusting in God because He will keep every promise and always remain faithful to us even when we aren't. I am 5 days away from leaving for 2 months and by the Grace of God I was blessed by His provision!! GOD IS GOOD!!!
P.s Stay tuned for more posts leading up to my trip and even during my trip. I will post my experiences, encounters, pictures, videos etc. Stay Blessed.
