recreation of a chapter 6 dream i had a while ago

basically chapter 6 started out with no fanfare no title screen nothing. it just hard cut into the first frame in the post; you'd play as mantle kris inside a black void with random cliff like textures on the ground and a bunch of distorted friends and skull-like creatures roaming around. attempting to fight them would immediately result in a loss, however, kris would get up and the game would immediately continue. both the friend sprites and the skull ones were highly detailed and would move smoothly, like at a higher frame rate than everything else, and the friends would change in shape slightly (demonstrated by comparing the first and second frames here) there was no UI for health, your level, things of the sort occasionally, text would pop up, and the look of the dialogue box was specifically the same as the light world's. it kept talking about kris's memories that they're trying to run from. the graphics had a built in crt filter and the perspective was somewhat warped, as if you're leaning against an arcade machine irl (think how the fruity maze minigame in fnaf 6 looks). at the same time, the music was heavily distorted and nonsensical, and the game would shift perspective occasionally and play like doom. the screen was utilized completely and there were no borders. it abruptely ended so there's not much more to say about the dream itself, but i think the actual intro and main chapter were supposed to play after this weird pre-chapter "intermission" ---------- i used a bunch of stuff to make these so i just wanted to credit it all:

-mantle kris sprite is from here -board game cliffs sprites are from here, although i've recolored and altered them slightly to fit how they looked in the dream better -skull sprite is made by me, though it's heavily referenced/traced from the skull that chases you in the witch's house (the og not the remake) since that's what the dream visuals reminded me most of. here's the exact sprite i used as a ref, from this video (couldn't find rips of it </3)
