Okay, so this happened earlier and I have to talk about it. During the Acolyte week 2024, I chose the prompt of conflict for the last day. I talked about the conflict of the Jedi Order and how its image of heroism is imperative to its legitimacy with galactic society and how Senator Rayancourt was a challenger to that image. Any way, I got this really shitty comment from someone. I deleted the comment, I have the power to do that and I had no wish to cut and paste it. People are entitled to there opinions but I don't want to get anyone in trouble. Okay, now to the details of the post: Basically, they disagreed with every point that I made stating that Rayancourt is a massive jerk for invading Venestra's office and for insulting her. The post went on to say that the Jedi do not have a monopoly on power, they never did and the idea of such is just an invention of the show. I found it all very funny because clearly this person either did not pay attention at all to the show, has no critical thinking skills or both. Also, this person's thoughts kind of prove Rayncourt's point that when "You're looking up to hero's, you don't have to see what's right in front of you." In this person's eyes the Jedi can do no wrong. Any one who has been paying attention since the prequal movies knows this is not true. The jedi got too comfortable with their power and we all know how that worked out for them. Also, this person's opinion gives credence to the points La’ Ron Readus made in his incredible essay about the over abundance of fake star wars fans in the fandom. For them, its not about Star Wars, its all about being the loudest person possible in spite of being dead wrong. It also makes me have even more empathy for the creative heads and show runners and what they must have to put up with. Especially now since the idea that writers actively hate their audiences seems to be gaining traction-but, that's a topic for another day.
