How wild do you think the swaps get in the Celine pinball verse?

(Because I got the image of like at some point the Dread Space Pirate Celine showing up in like a trihorn hat with a plasma flintlock [how does that even happen, Mira mutters] being all "Avast me maties!"

Sarang just being so confused bc this is supposed to be Celine?

And Rumi is just so so done with everything.)

(Or like...imagine a demon Celine gets pinballed over)

Joke answer: imagine it getting as weird as you like. Why not!

Serious answer: the Honmoon has checked off goal: help Sarang and is still working on goal: get Celine back into harmony. Either it has to find a part of its fabric where she’s naturally stable or poke her until she comes to terms with the thesis statement of her native area (What It Sounds Like)

Probably, as a narrative, this means 3, 5, or 7 swaps. So far we have mirror!timeline (you could be worse!) (failed), alt!timeline (you aren’t inherently evil omg) (failed), and flower dad!timeline (your goodness is not dependent on others ffs. Also gender) (…failed?)

Presuming that Celine simply denies her way through her time in the flower dad au, next on the list would probably be the gumiho Celine/deadbeat Miyeong crossover where Celine was raising Rumi in LA. To which Celine would go “wow I’m a lying demon (literal) who kidnapped Miyeong’s baby here. And Rumi’s got Stockholm syndrome!” If she manages to figure out the demon thing before dragging Rumi back to Korea and finding out from Miyeong and Third lmao

I think the amount of understanding and compassion for her counterpart’s actions she’s be met with there would really shake her up and finally get her to be like “am I… misjudging things?” before retreating into deeper denial

So I can’t think of a fifth timeline off the top of my head, but that would be the one that finally gets her to get it

I know the Mirror, Mirror universe isn't supoosed to be as divergent as the one in Star Trek but I can't help but laugh at the idea of Celine waking up in this world where everything is BLACK and TRIANGLES

Miyeong’s ex won’t trust her (for very reasonable reasons of her counterpart’s behavior) and he’s having a whole tragic reunion with his possibly-a-sleeper-agent daughter and she’s just like. Let me go hooooooooome i promise I’ll wear a Hawaiian shirt every day if that’s what it takes

So Mirror, Mirror AU, thinking about main!Rumi, post rescuing mirror!Rumi and;

I can't help but think that main!Rumi feels some sort of way about mirror!Rumi showing up and how Celine acts around this version of her that looks more demonic and is younger and like;

Don't get her wrong, she's happy mirror!Rumi is being taken care of and it's not like main!Rumi had a bad childhood or anything. Celine succeeded more often than she failed (but boy do those failures sting even now)

And she's seeing Celine sort of parent this other version of her *better* than she parented main!Rumi, telling this Rumi things that main!Rumi wished she had been told growing up and just having feelings about that.

(And it's not like Celine is doing it on purpose, Rumi tells herself. This is her second go-around of course she's a better parent)

(And she is definitely not jealous of a younger, more truamatized version of herself except oh wait yes she is. She is.)

(Oh wow this is a real low point. She can't let anyone know about this. Her pride will never recover.)

So thoughts on how main!huntrix feels about mirror!rumi and the whole Situation?

I think you are right and correct on Rumi. Celine didn’t do this on purpose and she’s so glad that her other self is getting a home and she knows it’s not about her. But some selfish part of her screeches about it sometimes

(Sarang actually genuinely has no idea about this at all because in her mid twenties, Rumi’s version of “I’m jealous of you and I hate that” is not lashing out or physical avoidance, it’s being extremely kind)

(Usually when you have an age gap with your sibling and you see your parent doing better and you’re happy but also pissed off you can tell said sibling and they’ll be like “huh!” Unfortunately Rumi just met hers and also she’s traumatized as shit)

(Celine has no idea about this but is fucked up on her own Literally Everything of this situation, including being in the situation of taking a Rumi who she hurt so much worse than she already her Rumi and trying not to make the same mistakes again.

But also she gets the lashing out and avoidance so she picks it up eventually)

I think Zoey also sees that and winces a little, because she’s seen her parents have some degree of do-over from their relationship and from her and it just. Sucks. And she’s been working on her “we can smile our way through this” instincts but she’s not exactly at starting a family therapy session

Meanwhile Mira’s just like “oh shit it’s my recruitment all over again lol”

What she knew was that one moment she was studying the results from Zoey's latest solo shoot and the next, Mira leaned over against her back.

And the damning whisper: "I know what you are."

Mira makes a joke. Rumi forgets her memes. Everything goes extremely well.

☔Is there a fic concept you have that you'd like to just explain and share because you're not sure you'll ever write it? If so, what is it?

Okay, well, I have this concept called the Power of Friendship AU (short for the power of friendship and this gun Rumi found) which is an au where Rumi is not her generation’s third Hunter. I have about three chapters of it and no idea how to keep going into the real plot in a way that would be interesting

It’s very, like, Mira and Zoey and their third show up and Celine is just. Odd. Kind of cold. Very firmly says she doesn’t want them to talk to her kid. And that’s a super cheerful intro to monster hunting!

Eventually, of course, the girls disregard this instruction because Rumi seems lonely (and Zoey definitely is lonely) and also she probably has dirt on Celine. Also she turns out to know more about demons than they do, and be a helpful study buddy

So Rumi’s like “they have no reason not to kill me if they find out my secret but also I think I love them,” and it all stumbles out from there

"Are you going to tell the other Hunters, then, or do you want our help covering?" Abby asked.

The choco pie was squashed in their panicked grip. They'd been working so hard on not lying to Zoey and Mira, and having it so bluntly thrown in their face was just… awful.

As was confronting the fact that they really, really weren't ready to tell them yet.

It wasn't—they didn't think it would go badly! Mira and Zoey loved them and wouldn't care if Rumi wanted to dye their skin purple and move to the bottom of the ocean, as long as they could come too.

But it was still terrifying. Unnameably awful, and they'd barely worked up the courage to tell two people who'd never gotten attached to Rumi-the-woman and they still wanted to melt into the floor and die and never be seen again and—

"Hey," Romance said, gently. "Hey, are you in there?"

Something smacked into their knee, and Rumi automatically grabbed it. It was a shrimp chip. They threw it back at Abby.

He threw it to Romance.

"Gross," said Romance, and he wrapped it in a paper towel napkin.

Rumi laughed a little, faintly hysterical but more present than before. "Do you want some shirts that button all the way up?"

I love this fic sm and the ridiculous amount of time I’ve spent on jstor reading stuff for it. Very little of it is going to make it in probably BUT I now have ridiculously elaborate hcs about things like Rumi finding out Jinu isn’t familiar with the story of Chunhyang because he’s too old and forcing him to go to a pansori performance of it

Also more seriously talking about marital fidelity/chastity in Joseon Korea and like the stigma against women remarrying and such. Something I almost definitely won’t really be getting into because this is me having a goofy time is that Romance in this au made his deal to marry a widow (who was also in love with him but wouldn’t be with him because The Consequences) and his. Disregard for her in the process really messed up their relationship before he went full demon

Idk has me with some vague secondary concept about how. If we treat demons as a people class (which is to say: can become rather than just being) then we have to reckon with them being awful on a more complete level, and someday I would kind of like to write something that really explores that
