haha Fall Barros is like she's a hero yes she's good she is always trying to do so much good and sword interval starts in a town that's made its home in a skeleton- a corpse, a dead thing. and that's the world. the world is dead. the first line in the first episode.

the world is dead and there are always monsters and always people dying but inside that ribcage of a dead thing where the heart should be there are instead people, trying to live.

and that's important. they're important, those specks in the middle of the desert. they're worth saving and that's what Fall believes. It's what she wanted, right? for someone to have come and save her family. for Alex to have shown up in time. etc.

That's not what the Hierophant thinks. He sees the world as dead and does not try to look closer. And it's not what Atlas thinks, who is so intent on holding up the entire world that they don't notice if a few are crushed in the process.*

It's forest/trees. And what happens is Fall inspires other people to care a little more about the trees as well. It's a simple message about care and kindness and it fucking gets me. Every time.

*but neither are what saves the world. In the end it's Fall and the people she made connections with. Spirit Bomb and Mah Yun and Titan's Folly and Sugar Fen. Atlas failed. Dropped the ball. But just like the statue in the comic, the people it would have stepped on came up the catch it.
