WAY OFF.

Winthrop had 56 points that were somehow not added onto our score. WHAT THE FUCK. We actually got 2nd place instead of 5th, and we were only nine points away from the leaders. WHAT THE FUCKING FUCK. ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME!? HOW DO YOU LOSE 56 FUCKING POINTS! So pissed off right now I can't even express it.

There are few experiences that will remain unforgettable through the rest of our lives: moments of our lives that reach deeply into our emotions and permeate into the depths of our hearts. For many people sitting in this room, myself included, JCL is that experience. From working with new people, to making new friends, JCL’s effects are long lasting. Getting involved with the Junior Classical League my freshman year was one of the best decisions that I have ever made, without it I don't know what would occupy most of my time and energy. As amazing as the sheer number of people who share a passion for the classics is, all the more amazing is how they enthusiastically share that passion with strangers who eventually become people whom we call friends. Our state conventions never cease to impress; where else would you find delegates from all over the state decked out in their Roman finery, or heart stopping Certamen rounds where one question is often the difference between first, second, and third? Fall Convention starts our JCL year with fun and revelry, from test taking to Certamen playing, and from the spirit competition to the awards. At Fall Convention, we are presented with a chance to start a new chapter in our JCL experience. From making new friends, to meeting up with old ones, a great time is had by all during this Classics filled night. But now this chapter is winding down to an end. The awards have been given out, the Certamen machines have been put away, and soon all that will be left of this night are memories. I hope this convention has been fun for everyone and the memories of it will entice you to come back for more. I hope to see you all in March at the Certamen convention and gratias maximas to everyone who made tonight’s success possible. Valvete omnes!
