Fall is here!
Happy OCTOBER! I can finally give in to ALL THE PUMPKIN (#whitegirlprobs)!
I have been holding out on fall things since the weather has been in the 60s-70s (which have been record highs for SD). I wanted to hold onto it as long as possible! Although it's 71 today, October is finally here, and since fall doesn't stick around long before the blizzarding begins, I've decided to finally embrace it!
That being said, I will probably be bombing you with a few fall posts of my own (trust me, I've already got ideas exploding out of my mind every time I walk by a pumpkin in front of a house), but I wanted to leave you with 10 things I am most excited about this fall!
1. Apple Cider Floats by What's Cooking Love?
I think now is the perfect time for these fall-themed floats, since the weather is still pretty warm but the apple cider definitely says "fall". Ryan likes apple cider too, so I want to pick up the ingredients and make them sometime this weekend!
2. White Chocolate Candy Corn Buckeyes by Or so SHE says...
Candy corn by far is one of my favorite candies. I'm not lying when I tell you that if I died from eating too much candy corn, I would die happy. And mixed with peanut butter and white chocolate? How can you go wrong?
3. DIY Halloween Pumpkins by Waiting on Martha
I love doing weird things to pumpkins, in case you don't remember from last year. These pumpkins are all so precious! My favorite is definitely the thumb tacks, though. I'm hoping I can pick up some cheap tiny ones from the farmer's market and decorate my apartment with ones like this!
4. Pumpkin Donuts with Sugar Glaze by Budget Savvy Diva
I also (but not quite equally) love donuts. I feel like this is something right off a Starbucks menu, but sound super simple to make.
Speaking of things off a Starbucks menu...
5. All Natural Pumpkin Spice Latte by Mama Natural
You'd be wrong if you thought I wasn't going to put a "better for you" recipe up today. But seriously, who wants to spend tons of money on a Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Latte every day, when you can make your own.
….now you only have to go once a week. See? I'm helping you. :)
Now I just need that espresso maker that's on my wish list….
I also want to throw in a bonus link, because the non-caffeinated sidekick to the Pumpkin Spice Latte looks equally delicious. You can thank me later. ;)
6. Pumpkin Dip by Carolina Charm
What's a party without a dip? Maybe it's the cute pumpkin that drew me in (okay, maybe its the 'Nilla Wafers….), but I want to try this dip out ASAP!
7. Going to an orchard/corn maze.
Last year I realized too late that I had missed the window for going to an orchard/corn maze. Darn it! This year, I really want to make it to at least one or the other. I have been looking at Country Apple Orchard, Hoversten Orchard, or the Heartland Country Corn Maze. I really wanna pick one and go this weekend, but I'm not sure how things will pan out since Ryan and I both have exams next week.
8. Pumpkin Protein Bars by FitSugar
I must admit, the majority of recipes I make with pumpkin are healthy. I'd be lying if I told you I ate recipes like 1, 2, 4, and 5 frequently, because I know if I even made them I would have zero self control. This is a more likely option for me, and they look super awesome! I get to have fall in my mouth while maintaining self control. Win Win!
9. Low Calorie Pumpkin Cream Cheese Muffins by Undressed Skeleton
Another healthy recipe that has tons of good reviews. It's likely I'll be trying this one too, although it will probably be a weekend treat since I like to have a little more protein in my breakfasts.
And last, but certainly not least...
10. 20 Ways to use Leftover Pumpkin by The Savory
because, well, we all know how that fall frenzy goes. We get super excited and buy 15 cans of pumpkin puree in the hopes that we will make all of the fall recipes on our Fall Pinterest board, but in reality the first blizzard hits within a week and we've already moved on to winter.
That wraps it up, but real quick because I'm feeling generous (and couldn't narrow it down to just 10) here's a few quick links to some other fall posts I found interesting!

Pumpkin Pie Marshmallows (for the Pumpkin Spice White Hot chocolate, of course)
