ok so i think our difference is that to me, toast is like birds much more vague and open. while to you toast is like a crow, more specific.

well toast might be like. uh i cant think of a simile. but basically its something which could encompass a variety of things, but also ONE of those specific things (toast, as in toasted bread) doesnt have a different specific name, whereas all the other things do, so its redundant to use toast to refer to all of them when you could mean toast specifically or a variety of other toasted products

well i meant more of like, for example some people imagine sparrows when oyu say bird, and some people imagine crows. it jsut depends on your experience. so im not saying you have to agree, im jsut aksing that you dont blatantly tell me im wrong

yeah but if u dont mean a specific bird thats all cool

but if ur talkin about crows u should probs say crows otherwise people will think ur talkin about other birds (especially if ur talkin to people from different cultures where other birds are more prevalent)

not that opinions can;t be wrong, jsut that this one in particualr is more of a make your own definition kind of thing

if you wanna say toast and mean pita go ahead but dont expect me to think pita when you say toast okay

also language cant. be a ""make your own definition" thing bc. its used to communicate. and if youre thinking different things you arent communicating effectively. which is why definitions are/should be universal
