1. Thirst No. 1 by Christopher Pike (Currently Reading; Five thousand year old Sita, who goes by the name of Alisa Perne finds herself in unlikely trouble from a long time aquantance and finds love in the smallest of places. She persues Ray, reminding her of her past lover.) First published in 1995. Very amazing book and great if you have something for vampire novels and need a new read.
2. The Invention of Wings by Sue Monk Kidd (On Sarah’s eleventh birthday, she was given her ten year old slave, Handful. Over the next thirty five years they form a complex relationship) First published in 2014.
3. The Shadow Land by Elizabeth Kostova (Alexandra wanders to Bulgaria to cope with her recent loss. She stumbles upon a box engraved with a name and filled with human ashes. She tries to locate the family and during the adventure she uncovers secrets and covers the topic of grief.) First published in 2018.
4. The Mermaid Chair by Sue Monk Kidd (In South Carolina, just off the coast in a monastery sits a mermaid chair. Jessie comes home after word of her mother’s acts of violence and is taken to a monk upon arrival. Will the mermaid chair alter Jessie’s life?) First published in 2005.
5. Water for Elephants by Sara Gruen (Jacob joins the madness of the traveling circus during the fight of the Great Depression. Where he meets Marlena, an actress in the circus whom is married to the lion tamer. He also meets Rosie, an elephant who seems untrainable. The two become close due to trying to tame and train the lovely Rosie the elephant.) First published in 2006.
6. The Death and Afterlife Book by James R. Lewis (Encyclopdia of Death, Near Death, and Life After Death. I picked this up because I am an aspiring mortician and will be going to mortuary school in a year after my current degree. I encourage people to pick up and read a book about death at least once in your life!) Published in 2001.
