Rose Quartz
Rose is a masterful sword fighter, chosen by Shedletsky himself to wield the Illumina. Where many SWORD wielders lose their SFOTH swords in combat, she has managed to keep a hold of her weapon since she was first chosen to wield it. She considers it her life’s mission to keep it safe!
however, the Illumina is one of the most powerful SWORDs- it carries with it the unique ability to “purify” exploit code. While traditionally its main use was revealing hidden people, as exploit became more common, she realized this ability to nullify the effects of Exploit and worked with the admins to ban hackers often.
John saw this and took her by surprise when the apocalypse first started- he couldn’t kill her with exploit outright, and getting too close to her hurt and burned his own code, so he settled for locking her away deep underground beneath his home base at the Crossroads.
c00lkidd is the only other killer who knows her location, being assigned to feed her and make sure she doesn’t escape. Seems like he spilled the beans to his buddy Crosscut, though, as he sometimes visits her.
despite being caged, Rose maintains a hope that burns bright in her chest! She refuses to be smothered by the hackers, and though she’s lost much of her spark and ability to fight, she hasn’t sunken fully into a pit of hopelessness. Though the experience has scarred her deeply, she doesn’t outright seek revenge, and instead sees the killers as they are- People, beneath their hostile exteriors. Namely, she’s gotten close to c00l, who she sees as a misguided kid. She doesn’t know crosscut well, as he isn’t very talkative, but sees how distraught he is. She also has an understanding of 1x4’s true nature with how much c00l talks about and respects him.
during the events of Vee’s milestones in FC, she would be freed by Vee and the Illumina passed on to her. As of this blog, though, she is still imprisoned. After being freed, Vee and Rose grow very close, with Rose using the crystals growing out of her due to underuse of her SWORD to charge Vee via a piezoelectric reaction.
