Last week, I haven't written much for the story, though don't take that as a bad thing. I'm at a point where Jafar comes into the story, and I needed to wait for last Thursday's episode of Once Upon a Time in Wonderland in order to determine his motivations in life, and how Agrabah was run.
Check underneath the Read More for things I want to discuss with you about Jafar, and also for some replies to my readers. :-)
I'm still not completely certain about the kind of man Jafar is though. A few questions that popped up in my head.
Does he have ambition to be the Sultan?
Where on earth are Jasmine and Aladdin and such?
Is what Jafar feels for his father love, obsession, or both?
Was Jafar the "Royal Grand Vizier" at any point in his life?
To what point is Jafar actually capable of empathy? If Rumpelstiltskin would be like "I need to find my son, and to make right all my wrongs to him.", would Jafar be like "Oh you wonderful human being, go ahead!" or would he be cold about it? Or how on earth would he react to such a thing?
Would he be able to love a woman, or would it just be more of a possessive relationship?
It's that kind of stuff that I've been wondering myself all week, and I hate that the answers don't come easy to me. If anyone of you wants to share their opinion about Jafar (and these questions), please, reblog and let me know! I watched Aladdin quite a bit as a child, but have never really read any Jafar meta (or thought too much about it myself), so enlighten me with your wisdom and insights!
Enough about Jafar. Some replies to my lovely readers.
arcticmuse: No swimming lessons planned in the story so far. ;-) Though I can safely say that I'm planning for Belle to get wet in several other ways. (Both those people with and without a dirty mind are right in their assumptions right now.)
Also, not sure if Rumpel would look fancy in cornrows. XD I prefer his hair fluffy!!!
cassisxmindy: Thank you sweety! So happy you're enjoying the story!
ouatauburngirl: I reblogged your reblog of chapter 16 with some comments here. Also, Rumpel is going to be a lot more flustered once they get to the next world. Trust me on that.
fallen-redrose: Gosh, there really isn't a greater compliment than hearing someone say this is one of their favorite fanfics. ^^ Thanks so much! And you say you don't know what to say, but whatever you reply always makes me blush, so thank you!
darkerdearie: Thanks for reblogging and encouraging others to read it! The more people reading it, the happier it makes me. I suppose that's only logical. ;-)
I don't have to worry about making any wordcounts today, and it's very relaxing. I've been contacting some artists online to see if I can get them to do some commissions for the story. (I felt like I could treat myself to a bit of art after writing 90 000 words in a month.)
I'm overwhelmed by the response to the latest chapter, you're all so sweet and supportive! Let me hold you all to my bosom! *hugs*
darkaenor: Thanks so much for commenting! ^^ And yes... I wonder when they will kiss. ;-)
ouatauburngirl: I love Belle's "The Outsider" outfit, so naturally I had to fit it into the story. I'm really quite bad at describing clothes though. I'm now at a bit where Rumpelstiltskin is wearing the clothes from the first scene of Skin Deep. How on earth does one go about describing that? "He wore a ghastly outfit." I just... I don't find words to describe that thing. XD
darkerdearie: Whoot!! Thank you for reblogging and promoting! *hugs* Much appreciated!!!
arcticmuse: Lol, yes, you're right about him digging his own grave by giving her clothes like that. I don't think Rumpel spends time sewing/cutting clothes. He just "whisks" it into life, using his imagination and the resources stored on the lower desks of the ship. If he's got a heavy log of wood below deck, and he thinks of wooden figurines, for example, he would be able to summon them the way he imagines them. That's the same way he summons Belle's clothing, and their meals.
fallen-redrose: Stay tuned for Rumpel teaching Belle a whole lot more than just fighting. ;-) And thank you for the compliment about Rumpel. ^^ I wanted him to be much harder and tougher, actually, but I could not make it so. The man's been on his own for a century, and he falls for Belle pretty fast and pretty hard... He's been pretty isolated, and he knows that he needs her to find his son.
I'm over 85 000 words now... And not finished yet. It's a bit of a reason to cry, yes, cause I had hoped to be finished, but the story isn't anywhere near the end yet. I will have to continue writing this December. Who knows, maybe I might be able to wrap it all up before Christmas?
I also feel like some thanks in order to everyone that has liked, reblogged or commented on the story so far. Whenever I'm stuck, I reread some of your kind words, and then I get back to writing. Thank you all so much. ^^
ouatauburngirl: So happy to see you're still enjoying the story! You're always one of the first to comment and I always look forward to it. ^^ *big kisses and hugs*
fallen-redrose: You should not be so shy to comment, your words completely made my day! ^^ I hope to answer all the questions that I raise, but in case you want to know when I will address certain issues, you can always come into my inbox for small spoilers. ;-) (Like how many chapters you will have to wait for a certain answer, for example...)
I hope you continue giving feedback to stories you love! Not just to mine, but to all. I know other fanfic writers would appreciate it as well! ^^ (And besides, nobody on Tumblr bites.)
ibode: The acronym-part of your comment cracked me up. Yes. I was very aware that the acronym would be HOTSSSSSS. I loved it. I have always loved acronyms, also for my Dutch HP Fanfics. I had J-Lo, Gids (Dutch word for Guide, but it was the acronym for Gevangen in de Schaduw), BeHa (which is the same as 'bra', short for Bevroren Hart)... Ugh I'm a sucker for acronyms and I'm SO happy you noticed it! ;-)
The rest of your comment is also really sweet. <3 Thank you so much for taking the time to let me know what you think! It's much appreciated!
I hope you'll continue to find the future worlds as intriguing as the ones they've been to so far!
I like that you compare it to Treasure Planet. I've only seen the movie once, soon after it came out, but I love Sci-Fi and Disney in general, so I'm happy you get that vibe of HotS!
