The Dangers of Pit Orchestra
Dispite what most people think Pit Orchestra can be a very dangerous job. Last night for example, there's a scene in the musical where someone is carrying a bowl and trips and breaks a table. Well... He dropped the metal bowl and it fell into the pit nearly knocking some poor clarinettist unconscious. After picking it up the conductor promptly stated what falls into the pit. Stays in the pit. So she wore the bowl as a fancy new hat. Tonight there was a scene where someone drops a vase that is supposed to shatter and unfortunately for us, the person dropped it but it didn't shatter. It instead rolled into the pit and came crashing next to some poor bassoon player and scaring the crap out of the drummer.
