Normally, he wouldn’t answer the phone to unknown numbers, but this time he was curious as to who might be on the other end - since he seemed to get those annoying unknown calls a lot anyways, why not? Chris was on his way to pick up something to eat that afternoon, and was currently waiting for the red light to switch back to green, so he swiped towards the answer feature, and held the phone to his ear.
“This is a collect call from: Ashley. From the *local* Police Department. To accept this call, PRESS 1.” Wait a minute, what did that automated voice just say to him? Ashley? “You are now being put through the collect call with: Ashley. All standard rates apply.”
Chris was all types of confused, and couldn’t think straight when the line went through to the other end. He was honked at by another driver when the light turned green and he didn’t move fast enough, and Chris jerked back into gear, phone clutched tightly, “Ashley? Are you in fucking jail? Did you use your one phone call on me? What the fuck did you do?”
“…what do you mean we didn’t talk last night? You came over, you were here.”

“Ash, are you...” Chris moved in closer to her, wanting to touch her face, wanting to draw her near. He didn’t know how frantic she might be, given the circumstances, “I swear I didn’t come over... I was gone.”
Chris sat up in his bed as Ashley entered the room, immediately regretting the decision once the head rush took hold. Breathing slow, he calmed his dizzy spell before looking to the girl once more. “Ash... I-I... I’m---It’s good to see you. How’re you holding up?”

One:
Their first kiss happened in a game of spin the bottle. It was Ashley’s turn, and while Chris didn’t expect the bottle to somehow miraculously land on him, it did. It was then that the realization that all their friends were about to witness their first kiss hit him. Chris felt his throat tighten, but he knew that the kiss was going to happen whether he wanted it to or not.
While this kiss was brief, his red-face was not.
Two:
Chris had originally planned to skip out on study hall with Ashley that day, but there was no avoiding her when she was persistent. She hounded him all day about the benefits of routine studying, that he eventually just gave in to shut her up. He spent that time in the library halfway reading the material provided by massive texts books and Ashley’s incredibly thorough notes.
However, when it came time for them to leave, Chris walked Ashley to her car - opened the door for her, and even hugged her goodbye. What he didn’t expect, was that their second kiss would happen after the hug. When Ashley turned her head a little too soon, and their lips brushed against each other accidentally. Chris mistook this for an actual intention. But Ashley didn’t stop him.
Three & Four:
The third kiss was during a swimming party - hosted by Emily and Jessica, but mostly dominated by Mike and Josh in the end. Loud music, splashing young adults - but Ashley and Chris found themselves huddled close to one corner of the pool, talking about nothing, but laughing about everything.
Ashley kissed Chris just because she thought he looked really cute without his glasses on. He couldn’t have them on when he was swimming after all, and Chris responded by telling her that he thought she was cute all the time. Then came their fourth kiss as well.
Five:
He was going to ask her out, and he thought that it was a good idea considering they had shared four kisses. Four kisses more than normal people share, after all. He had everything planned out in his head. How he was going to ask her, how not to make himself look like a complete idiot.
But of course none of those plans were fool proof. Chris always ended up making himself look like an idiot at the end. He did ask Ashley out, and when she burst into laughter, he feared that she might reject him until she told him that she had been waiting for him to ask her out for months.
They shared their official first kiss as a couple - even though it was their fifth kiss overall.
