So much goodness. So many feels. On the brink of closing out one journey to leap over to the next. The one that I have been awaiting all my life, one in which I can be true to who God created me to be and that which awakens my soul. It seems surreal, so far away. 4 more days. So many thoughts whirling in my head about all the ways He has transformed me and revealed who He created me to be over these 10 yrs in captivity of the 'corporate working world'. It's not for me. Grace. Grace. Abounding grace. . The struggle as been real to stay present and attuned to God's presence in the messy restoration process. To be present-engaged, not numb out and shift into survival mode. This has been a struggle all my life and one that God has worked deeply in me. He has given me permission to be honest with myself about where I am along my journey so that He could come alongside me and allow Him to be who He is- my all sufficiency, my true source of strength. I had to allow myself to acknowledge my human weakness to fully receive God's promises- the bits of mana for the day. It has been through consistently shifting my focus to His truths that I have been able to perservere throught what dramatically felt like a slow death to self. Thankfulness. Joy. Hope. Faithful obedience. Keep believing. He made a way when there was no way. He will do it again. Be present in the process. Extend yourself grace. God's the best life planner, guide, and sojourner. DANCING IN THE RIVER: A MEDITATION ON PSALM 65 Oh, visit the earth, ask her to join the dance! Deck her out in spring showers, fill the God-River with living water. Paint the wheat fields golden. Creation was made for this! Drench the plowed fields, soak the dirt clods With rainfall as harrow and rake bring her to blossom and fruit. Snow-crown the peaks with splendor, scatter rose petals down your paths, All through the wild meadows, rose petals. Set the hills to dancing, Dress the canyon walls with live sheep, a drape of flax across the valleys. Let them shout, and shout, and shout! Oh, oh, let them sing! (Psalm 65:9-13 MSG) I love The Message translation of this psalm. When I read Psalm 65 in other translations, I am tempted to pass over it as antiquated words celebrating a harvest long-past. While the harvest was especially important for the ancient people of Israel, I suppose the modern-day fast-food “connoisseur” in me is not as moved by this hymn of praise. Yet this translation beckons me to slow down and to experience it in a whole new light. The photo above was taken by my friend Heidi. She had asked me to meet her at our local state park to take some photos that would allow her to play with light, movement and color. Dressed in my dance attire I stepped out of my car, just slightly self-conscience of my appearance. I mean, who wears white, flowy dresses to hike the trails? But soon we got started, and I danced away my embarrassment as we began this creative experiment immersed in the beauty of God’s creation. After taking many photos near the chapel there, I suggested we move our shoot to the river. I stepped gingerly into the cold water—with sandals on so as not to hurt my feet on the sharp rocks below the surface. I “danced” the best I could, trying to avoid splashing the water up on my dress. I kept to the edge—not wanting to wander out too deep—all the while playing it safe. Share ours or tag friends! We have trainings-books and swag to give away! GRACE in all seasons To everything there is a season and a time for every purpose under heaven. Ecclesiastes 3:1 Four years ago I found myself in a new season of life; unexpectedly retired so that I could care for my two moms… My husband’s mom – Avis, and then later that year, my mom – Ginger, also moved in with us. I needed GRACE! Every day I looked for ways to let graceFLOW out of me. I quickly realized how much kindness matters. Everyone wants to be treated with kindness. It makes us feel special regardless of our age. I hung this sign in my special place so that I could remind myself daily of my new role. I also found these verses had new meaning in my heart, “…clothe yourself with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience” -Colossians 3:12 and “but the fruit of the spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self control..” -Galatians 5:22. And, “forbearance” became my new favorite word, “patient self-control; restraint & tolerance.” Once I adjusted my pace, I was able to relax and enjoy this next part of my journey. The change of pace actually helped me to renew and refresh my spirit. I now hope to be able to age as graceFULLY as Avis and Ginger have and it has been a blessing to be part of this season of their lives. I’m also sure that’s what God intended for me! Plus I found time to follow my heart’s passion through YogaFaith ! A Prayer for Today: Dear Heavenly Father, let my words be filled with gentleness and kindness that others might be encouraged and uplifted. Lord today I pray for each other, that we allow God to love us and that we allow God to love others through us. May we feel God’s peace and love in our hearts and share little joys to one another. Amen, Amen, and AMEN Soul Work: Choose one person you know, one person you don’t know, and do something kind for them… and don’t let them know it was you.
