Fall has driven me indoors and under the covers with its finger-stiffening cold. Fall in the middle of the woods is beautiful and challenging. The trees change color, exposing their wiggly branches. The fish are swimming upstream, and the air smells of woodsmoke. Music is more moody and I can feel the distance between now and times long past shorten as the veil thins. Fall has challenges of keeping warm, getting things done while there is still light, and staying dry. It also brings an odd amount of activity as everyone realizes that winter is indeed coming and it's going to be the coldest I've ever experienced. * * Frankly, I'm already exhausted. I've been pushing myself to get my shit together or else wind up freezing, but going from zero to sixty in a day has made me stall out. I've been stuck in my cabin for three days now, and boy oh boy do I wish I had moved firewood down before the mental illness kicked in. I made it two weeks, a new record, before breaking down. Let's hope I feel better before Samhain, it's the first time I'll be able to have a bonfire and a hearthfire. Meanwhile, I'll be painting witchy art and insulating the crap out of my house. - - #communelife #rurallife #fallinthewoods #leisurelandchronicles #autumninthewoods #fuckitscold #oregonwitches #oregon #witchesoforegon #trees #pinetree #oregonwoods (at Deadwood, Oregon) https://www.instagram.com/p/BpXmKFNnfv6/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=ysd5s7ol0won
