I do think when Howard reunites with his family that Janey will at least be in her late teens, the show is already struggling with how fast their child actors grew. They’ll get accused of aping the fallout 4 twist even though it’s not that. This is my prediction. ☝️

Lucy and the Ghoul are a really rare relationship in mainstream television where a woman and man aren’t put together in a way that’s remotely sexual or paternal. it’s really satisfying.

fandom culture can’t stand it. they want them to fuck, so their Black love interests are ignored while they’re warped into strange parodies of themselves. nothing about it feels natural. Howard is a miserable husk of a human being who gives no impression of having a sex drive, he’s literally Only living to find his family. to live with them or finally kill himself if they’re dead.

Lucy meanwhile has all her actual complexities and traumas ignored to be sanded down into a self insert.

and we all know this. we talk about this a lot but honestly I find the 'father/daughter' fans to be just as annoying and dehumanizing.

there is something remarkably Foul to me about looking at Lucy's story: the nuclear family as unrelenting heteropatriachial horror. and saying yes what she needs is a different BETTER nuclear family/A Good Dad.

can we use our brains for a moment here? and look at what the show is saying about the construct of the nuclear family in Lucy's story? please? think about Lucy being born to be a breeder to make more babies for the Envlave's agenda while her and her mother are fully treated by Hank as his property to keep or discard.

we don’t talk enough about Maximus' sexy nose injury

overall I’m pleased, there are things I’ll bitch about later but I think the highs were better than the lows. I still think this show desperately needs more episodes per season to properly build things up and just show us more of the characters and world but I understand a show with as many practical effects as this can’t be cheap to make

and I love the effects, I love how many people wrestle nasty puppets in this show it’s as sci fi horror should be!

ok one last post before the fallout finale

I kind of want to think that the Senator isn’t an enclave plant because it makes her being so ineffectual and useless a little more poignant to me and also her horrific fate

I would like to see Janey coming out of her cryo pod and know that next season there will be a child in the gang but I don’t want to get my hopes up

I am PRAYING that Hank makes it through because I think killing him off would be really anticlimactic. This could just be me hating on the eight episode format but I think he needs to do more stuff and he’s a strong bad guy.

If the bad guy is just the president again that feels a little too much like fallout 3

finally caved and watched the fallout show and I’ll admit it’s fun and I mostly like it but it will never not be fucking bizarre watching a show about the dangers of capitalism produced by fucking amaz*n

I don’t think fallout show means to say that Howard's naive lazy 'apoliticalism' destroys the world but that is kind of what it’s saying on accident and I’m here for it. that bitch thought he could trust the president to end the war because he couldn’t sit through a communist meeting.

the longer fallout doesn’t acknowledge the chinese internment camps the worse it looks

and Steph's whole backstory sequence has kind of ruined her for me, replaced an interesting character I was engaged with a full body cringe and wince. it was the most blatant 'dystopia is when we treat white people like we treat people of color' I’ve seen in awhile
