Backstory: Brooklyn was born to Nate, a a former soldier who served in the 2nd Battalion, 108th Infantry Regiment of the U.S. Army during the Sino-American War, and Nora, a lawyer. Nora eventually gave birth to a boy, her little brother Shaun. Brooklyn had a normal, happy childhood until she turned nine.
What had started off as a normal morning quickly turned sour when a Nuclear Explosion alarm went off in Sanctuary Hills. Brooklyn had been asleep when the alarms went off, so her parents didn’t even realize that they had left her behind . It was ultimately Codsworth that realized it, and went back for the child. Codsworth had begged her to try to go to the vault, but Brooklyn refused to leave Codsworth behind. Instead she started running for the Red Rocket, only to be hit by a nuclear blast. This ultimate turned her into a ghoul child.
Brooklyn didn’t have the luxury of a vault, so she quickly had to learn to defend herself in this new world where the radiation could kill you in an instant if you so much as inhaled it, at least if you weren’t a ghoul. Brooklyn quickly learned to cover her face, and hide the fact that she was a ghoul child. Over the centuries, Brooklyn had forgotten how to be a child, and had developed very colorful vocabulary because of it. Thankfully, her father had taught her basic gun safety, so she could at least defend herself with a pistol. Over the centuries, the air slowly became less toxic, and Brooklyn saw less people suffocating because their masks ran out of filters, until finally, gas masks weren’t needed.
Brooklyn had always been a nomadic person, never feeling comfortable in one place for too long, until one day she finds a place called Goodneighbor, where other ghouls like her live.
Meeting the Brotherhood of steel:
Brooklyn had taken her dad’s old Pip-pad from the house. One day her Pippad picked up a distress signal. Deciding to investigate, Brooklyn found herself helping the Brotherhood of Steel with an army of Feral Ghouls. It was then that they realized that the person that had helped them was a child. Because her face was covered, they did not realize that she was a ghoul child, so Paladin Danse insisted that they bring her in as a Squire.
Becoming enemies with the Brotherhood of Steel:
One day Brooklyn was called in by Elder Maxson who revealed that Paladin Danse was a synth. Maxson ordered Brooklyn to execute him. Brooklyn decided to play along for now, only to get a lecture from Haylen. Brooklyn puts on an act and acts cold towards her, saying that what she was asking her to do was a dangerous move. When Haylen finally backed off, Brooklyn went to go find Paladin Danse, and showed who she really was for the first time.
Eventually Elder Maxson shows up, and realizes that his suspicions about the Squire had been right all along.
Maxson tells her that both she and Danse are now enemies of the Brotherhood of steel, and that he won’t hesitate in gunning them both down should they ever cross paths again.
