Probably the Denticulated Siphon Shell Siphonaria denticulata.

False Limpets are air-breathing snails found in intertidal marine and estuarine habitats of much of the world. Externally, the shells are difficult to distinguish from true limpets.

A Siphonariid found around the coastlines of New Zealand, Lord Howe Island, and much of Australia.

You may have noticed the outline isn't evenly oval - the bump on the left-hand side is the position of the siphonal groove, through which they breath air.
