1. the first time that ren held akechi the latter was at his most fragile; remnants of pride withering away like a rose only left with thorns. though he dared to prick yourself on his skin it is only akechi bleeding out his emotions. lips met as if to slow down the trickling, to ignore the metaphorical red that he decided to paint their lives with from now on. once the first one is done it devolves into many more, each for one wound, each for an attempt to bring comfort in the stuffy attic of leblanc.
2. the second time they are alone this is before christmas. sae had been sweettalked by goro so that the latter would take ren’s place in jail. of course the leader had protested - he never wanted this! with the blood on the detective hands it could take a long while before the other is released. all his words had fallen on deaf’s ears. they both had agreed on it and the detective stood his ground on the decision.
the very night, with tears in his eyes, ren had kissed goro on last time because in the morning he is gone. it left his lips feeling as if they were blue; the red is taken away by justice once again and for once justice was done accordingly, but was it okay for him emotionally? ( suddenly his bed felt colder and too large. ) was it always like this?
3. the third time they kiss he feels glass against his lips. all what remains is a spot where they would have touched each other. ren had gained his freedom, but at what cost? the space that allowed him to handle something over to goro is large enough for their hands, but the rest of his body remained skin hungry as it is. he’d hold onto it tight while talking to each other. the colour of gray is harsh compared to the blue skies outside the building. he gazes at his red eyes with a hint of determination. he dips down and kisses his hand; taking a third option is all what he could do right now.
