𝐓𝐇𝐈𝐒  𝐋𝐈𝐅𝐄  𝐈𝐒  𝐍𝐎𝐓  𝐎𝐍𝐄  𝐀𝐒𝐊𝐄𝐃  𝐅𝐎𝐑  ,  but  one  thrust  upon  the  unwilling  ---  where  their  desires  ,  the  utmost  things  that  keep  the  heart    beating  are  thrust  away  far  beyond  the  hand’s  reach  .  this  is  a  concept  bucky  has  contemplated  from  time  to  time  and  while  there  are  regrets  there  has  been  a  long  road  of  acceptance  in  the  heat  of  his  regrowth  .  at  what  point  does  a  soldier  rest  ?  the  wars  will  never  end  ,  the  darkness  will  keep  going  just  as  the  sun  will  set  after  each  new  day  (  each  hope  )  so  the  answer  is  clear  ,  never  .  even  in  the  faces  of  those  he’s  wronged  ---  or  what  was  left  of  them  ---  he  remains  a  soldier  with  a  duty  ,  to  protect  those  that  he  can  and  make  up  for  mistakes  from  his  past  .

IT’S BEEN A STRANGE FEW MONTHS to say the least but Tony finally feels like he’s getting a handle on things. It’s a new world and they’ve all had to adjust to it, to accept the reality of what had happened. He’s trying to move on, finally settling down and retiring from the superhero business. Pepper’s pregnant, there’s a baby on the way and he’s about to have everything that he never thought he could. It’s something of a BITTERSWEET happiness but it’s happiness nonetheless. He settles on the couch next to his wife— that’s another new thing to get used to but in a good way —and brushes a stray bit of hair out of her face.  ❝ Y’know, I never understood the appeal of pregnancy but I think I get it now. It suits you. ❞  He leans over and kisses her cheek gently, smirking.

❝   it’s just a graze.   ❞      a long one.   as expected of a knife fight.    one that she’d entered without having a knife of her own.     stupid.    she should’ve known better.    but her gun wasn’t optimal.   there were other staff in the way.   office workers and civilians who hadn’t known how to protect themselves.   pulling out a gun would’ve caused more chaos,   and at least knife fights had kept the attention strictly to her.    she could contain the damage.   but damn,  if it won’t hurt later.    she hopes it won’t scar.    on the contrary to popular’s belief,   maria likes wearing short-sleeved t-shirts.      ❝    don’t worry about it,   pep.   hey,  look   -   i’ve got it all wrapped up now,   right ?    i’m okay.   you’re okay.    but we need to get you to a more secure location.   wasn’t there a panic room in these upper floors in case of a break-in ?    ❞     she’s checking her gun;   removing the safety.      ❝   i think i memorised it from the blueprint.   come on.   get behind me.   i’ll keep you safe.  ❞
