— an interview with @fmdduri — interview for base online — mid april, 2022
there’s a reason joohyun is pretty bad at the average variety. as much as she’s a friendly person, someone who enjoys interacting with others, she finds it painfully awkward to have to speak to someone she’s not familiar with while also having to be minimally entertaining. but dimensions is gunning for her to put herself out there more, to participate in these opportunities set up by the companies as a way to get her name out there more — nothing more appropriate for publicity than to have her name tangled with idols who are more famous and more dear than her, in a non controversial way.
an interview. that’s all she has to do. sit through an interview with someone she’s barely interacted in the past, someone who’s a distant senior from a distant company she exchanged a few polite words in the past only. but joohyun can’t dwell on that as the studio finishes being set up, as the staff responsible for the filming let her know they can start. she’s already introduced herself, so joohyun puts on her best celebrity smile and turns to her senior with a confidence that is every bit feigned. “duri-ssi, thank you so much for agreeing to the interview, it is a big pleasure for me to be able to talk to a senior as respected as you are, so thank you for giving me some of your time!” every word was written by someone else as a guide, her manager taking pity on her and counting on joohyun’s flawless memorising capabilities to get her through it. “okay, so, your most recent solo release, traffic light, was met with a lot of success. how does it feel for you to still maintain such an acclaim even after ten years in the industry?”
