A beautiful bouquet! I shall give you three sentences of one of my WIPs in return - this one’s from a B7 fic, specifically the slightly gothic Avon/Tarrant AU I’ve been working on:
“You could've left me to die, saved yourself the bother, and got Orac to find you someone else.”
"I did not want someone else."
That catches Tarrant off guard - there's something strangely threatening in Avon's tone, reminding him acutely that he is no better off than a rat in a particularly nasty trap.
He senses the shadowy figures’ presence the moment he drops his keys in the catch-all. It looks like Liz, but who can tell these days?
He takes a couple of halting steps forward, sick with apprehension. Meeting the Cyranoid again was not his idea of unwinding after a long, hard day, no matter how much he wanted to talk to Liz in any way possible.
As the shape of Liz moves into the light, he releases the breath that chokes him. And drinks in the sight of her, immediately pulling her into a tight, warm hug.
“I missed you.” Liz whispers. He shivers as her breath caresses the skin below his ear.
But he answers darkly, “I know you did. You told me.”
She laughs a little as they release each other.
Liz looks up at Ressler, her eyes pleading as she asks,
“But did you miss me?”
Ressler looks serious now, and replies, his voice thick with emotion,
I was tagged by @tangle-of-matter-and-ghost for WIP Wednesday (on a Friday). Thank you so much! Here’s an excerpt from a Dayna/Soolin/Tarrant fic I’m working on.
(I’ll tag @nebulouscoffee @teh-nos and @dracfields)

“You don't suppose Soolin would know how to get into the landing silo?" Dayna asks, idly spinning a clip gun magazine in her fingers. She and Tarrant are holed up in the lounge, unable to do much as Vila attempts to get into the silo. Soolin watches them through a crack in a hidden door, secreted safely in the shadows. "Maybe we should look for her and ask."
Tarrant paces the length of the lounge - apparently, waiting patiently is not a great talent of his. "If she did, wouldn't she have opened it already? As far as I can tell, she's got as much reason to be here as we do."
"None at all?"
"None at all."
"Unless she's got some plan up her sleeve," Dayna suggests. "She could wait for us to get through, and then get the jump on us somehow."
"I wouldn't put it past her." Tarrant absentmindedly rubs at the bruise still darkening his jaw. There's one across his nose, too.
Dayna sets the clip down and rises from the sofa, crossing the short distance towards Tarrant. "Does that still hurt?"
"A little, but it's nothing serious." When Dayna grabs hold of his head to inspect the damage herself, he gives an amusingly undignified squawk of protest. "Hey! I said it's alright!"
"I'll be the judge of that," Dayna replies with a grin. She makes a great show of studying it, and then plants a kiss to the darkened flesh. "There. All better."
But Dayna doesn't stop at kissing - her hands start wandering, nimble fingers slipping beneath the hem of his jacket. Tarrant catches her wrists before she can explore any further. "Do you really think that now's the right time?"
"You're such a prude," she scolds, pulling away and traipsing back to the sofa with a light, playful step. She's awfully cheerful - not a particularly common disposition among outlaws. Soolin thinks it must take a great deal of strength to be so positive in this wretched galaxy. "We've done a lot worse than that in far more inappropriate places - remember Ultraworld?"
Soolin raises her eyebrows - so there is a history between them, just as she suspected. It makes sense. After all, when they found Dayna in Dorian's basement, Tarrant hadn't wasted any time coming to her rescue, and they'd embraced each other in a way that only people with a history could.
Tarrant's lips twitch upwards. "Ultraworld was a different situation."
"I suppose so." She sighs theatrically. "Does that mean I'll have to wait until we're off this planet before I can kiss you again?"
"You could always lend a hand to Avon or Vila, if you're bored."
"What would I do? The last thing Vila needs is my help, and Avon would only snap at me for getting in his way if I offered to look for the crystals with him. Come on - why are you playing so hard to get?"
"I'm not!" Tarrant protests, but there's laughter in his voice. They have a very natural rapport, friendly and flirtatious and fun. Soolin has never seen anything quite like it. "I'm just keeping my priorities in check, that's all. You can flirt with me as much as you like once we're back on Scorpio."
Cocking an eyebrow, Dayna looks unimpressed. "Right, because Scorpio has so much privacy. It doesn't even have cabins, Tarrant! You can't expect me to seduce you while Vila and Avon are watching."
"Oh, you're going to seduce me, are you?" Tarrant asks, joining Dayna on the sofa. He's grinning broadly now, unveiling a row of dazzling white teeth - he could blind someone with those things. "You do have a point, though. I've slept with you in front of an audience before, and I don't know how much I enjoyed it."
Soolin furrows her brow. Goodness knows what he means by that.
