I was wondering how do you do the multiple colors to your fandom hoodies. it would be great if you did a tutorial!

We use idye to dye each piece of fabric before sewing them together.  There unfortunately aren’t a lot of color options out there for sweatshirt fleece.

I’m actually in the process of making a big fandom hoodie tutorial, so keep watching!  I’ll probably post it after I finish the next hoodie and post the next giveaway.

Witch of [Bluh] Guide

The witch's hood is kind of tricky!  It took me a while to figure out how to do this in a way that's suitable for both hoodies and cosplay, in as few pieces as possible.  The best way to visualize this is to pretend like you're making a pair of pants.  For your head.  Start with the following:

Two outer hood pieces.  Each piece will become half of the hood area that encloses your head, and the outer half of one tail.  Pattern this out by deciding how long your want your tails and gently tapering a standard hoodie pattern backward by that length.

Two hood lining pieces.  Don't skip this.  This will hide any of the tail seams and help the hood sit on your head better.

Two inner hood pieces.  Each piece will become the inner half of one tail.  To pattern this out, lay your lining piece on top of your outer hood piece.  See the leftover triangular portion that is not covered by the lining?  Add about half an inch to this in the direction of the hood front, and you have your pattern.

To assemble, it's time to make some head-pants:

Line your inner and outer piece up, right side to right side, making sure that the tips of the tails match.  Sew along the outer edges of the tail.  Repeat for your second set of pieces.

Clip the corners for both pairs and flip one of your tails rightside out.

Place your rightside out tail inside of the insideout tail - you should now have a hood cone.  Line up the edges and sew together from the top of the hood to the base of the neck, also sewing along where the inner tail pieces meet.  Do not sew over your neckline edges.

Flip everything rightside out and clip all remaining corners.

Finally, decide how stiff you want your tails!  If you're making a hoodie or a floppy hood, you're ready to attach your lining.  If you need stiffer tails for your cosplay, you'll need to add either batting/stuffing to your tails to plump them out, or line your tails with a stiffer fabric like fleece or heavy duty interfacing.  Once done, attach your inner lining and you're finished!

Mage of [bluh] Guide

We have some beginner's mage cosplay suggestions over here, but for a hoodie your pattern might look something like this:

Hood: This is a pretty straightforward - just take your normal hood pattern and then kick the tail up outward.  Be sure to not make this too long or you'll have trouble keeping it sticking upright.  This type of design will also require a stiff lining layer to keep the tail upright.

Capelet: The mage hood is short in the front but long in the back, with a large "V" taken out of the center.  Both pieces should be cut on an angle, with the fabric getting longer toward the back.

The mage design is very adjustable, so you can make the hood or the capelet as long or short as you'd like.  We've actually made this design before, so your finished hoodie might look something like this:
