Tbh i think the reason why the Halo show is super divisive or whatever is the same reason StarWars fans are never happy; we both had an original trilogy that gave us everything we want and when we asked for and ofc we asked for more bc who the heck doesn’t want more of their favorite thing? But IMO (for both Starwars and Halo) the follow ups we’re always handled with the care that the originals were bc essentially they were already established and as many a Greek myths have taught us Hubris is helluva drug. I think the Halo show was fine but a part of me *reaaaaalllly* wishes it has been an animated series like Halo Legends (again imo I feel like that’s where it fits perfectly and that’s not a dig at it) can you imagine??
Eh, I wasn't big on Halo Legends, personally.
I do agree with you, though. Halo CE and then it's subsequent games attracted more and more varieties of fans over the years, and now we all want to have our cake and eat it too.
I never expected the show to please everyone, that was never a possibility. I feel like a lot of people just get so caught up in 'This is not what I wanted and I don't like it' that they sort of get lost in that negativity, you know? Hell I've been swept up in that Angry Brain mindset and it's taken me most of my life to learn to just chill. Getting carried off is easy, and it's easy to feel hurt and get angrier when someone doesn't share in your disappointment, and also aociety seems to have this idea that if you don't double down on your views, you're a flaky, wishy-washy, easily influenced simpleton or something (my mom used to give me shit regularly for changing my views).
And yeah, the similarities between the Star Wars and Halo franchises are pretty fuckin close, and I agree that really seems to fuel a lot of discourse. a
