It's probably just me, but as a woman, I find the constant insistence that "women are amazing" and "women can do no wrong" to be…creepy. It's like they're overcompensating for something. Like when a male feminist insists that all women are goddesses, only to be charged with sexual assault. Or how antis who scream about child porn are then later charged with having CP on their phone/computer. It just makes me so uncomfortable whenever I see those posts, especially when it's in regard to someone actively terrible and abusive. I mean, there's encouragement, and then there is the insistent need to be seen as super supportive. I only find few of said posts inspiring. Others leave a bad taste in my mouth due to how obsessed they are at being seen as virtuous. You get the distinct feeling that they don't actually care about women. They just want to be seen as caring about women.

Honestly, female character fans act like every single male character in existence is beloved and well developed, forgetting that there are hundreds of thousands of creative works where the male characters are nothing more than supporting cast to the women. Oh, how many TV shows and movies aimed at women have all antagonists as men? Where the male love interest's only purpose is to support, serve, and sacrifice for the female characters? How many shows are there with a female lead and is surrounded by useless and boorish male characters?

By that standard, that we're at historical amount of insufferable, selfish, and unlikable female characters right this very instant. But hey, that's perfectly ok because of what happened in the past. A past so terrible that radfems want to copy it and make it about female characters instead. Because that's hot hypocritical at all.

This will be the last I comment on this but I am tired of illiterate radfems on this goddamn website.

The initial problem was that a meme was being misused, and it would be nice to see female characters who "drink the respect men juice." You never see female character step in and defend a male character. You never see a female character state that she respects men. You never see female characters admit that men struggle, too.

That is the problem.

They hate the meme being misused. At no point in the original post or clarification did OP state that they hate women, or women should be disrespected. Nowhere. They, a black lesbian woman, complained about a meme being misused. That was it.

But no. Illiterate radfems and female character fans immediately assumed OP was an incel, that they were a misogynist. That they're attacking a good and pure and never abused meme.

You, you assholes, just saw "respect men" and started frothing at the mouth. You didn't bother to read the post or the clarification. You have the overwhelming urge to instead insult and belittle, and make it about respecting women, and what about women in real life. You idiotic radfems couldn't accept that your initial response was wrong, so instead stomped your little feet and doubled down. And then act like those responding to your tantrums are the ones who are getting upset about a meme. You set the tone, asshole. Don't be surprised if others respond in kind.

That's the problem with a lot of things, when you counter X-ism with any form of "X supremacy", it doesn't average out and fix what's wrong, you just get two different kinds of insufferable people.

For another example, neurodivergence. I hate those "ADHD isn't real you're just lazy" types, but that doesn't mean I like that fake "ADHD and autism are actually superpowers" spiel a lot of TV shows do.

The solution to discrimination is to treat people normally, like human beings deserving of respect, not to full send it to the other extreme.

"Pretty sure I'm OP of this problem, and I just want to say it's about people who see male characters being abused or bullied by female characters and people in fandom, instead of interpreting it as abuse (even in a comedic way, I'm 100% for making jokes about stuff), they act like it's normal to put up with said abuse because that's part of "respecting women". That underlying sentiment is what bothers the shit out of me."

That's the first thing my mind jumped to, so I was pretty shocked and a bit concerned at the knee-jerk comments calling you an incel, haha. Glad to know I wasn't nuts. I love girlboss jokes too, but sometimes people (usually radfems and misandrists) go that extra mile and use it to actually excuse, via character proxy, actually treating men like crap because "they deserve it" or something.

Yeah, not OP (who has been quite courteous despite everything), but I loathe the "drinks respect women juice" oh so much. And the comments are honestly infuriating.

Oh, OP must be an incel simply because they don't like it when male characters are disrespected. I'm surprised that they haven't been called a Pick-Me yet. Oh, I'm sure it's coming, though.

Yes? Obviously? If you actually read the post, you see that is not what they're saying at all. But to certain demographics, it does because it means they will literally allow the woman to be as abusive and manipulative as possible and if anyone dares to object, these certain demographics will leap to their defense. I've lost count the number of times where someone claims that male character "drinks respect women juice" only to search and learn that by respecting women, he "allows" them to abuse the shit out of him, be insulting and vile, and the moment someone actually speaks out about the treatment, HE is the one who immediately leaps to his abusers defense while spouting about how amazing and awesome women are.

Those initially responses are so telling. Someone dares to even hint that a male character could be abused and all the radfems jump up and immediately start insulting OP. Typical vile behavior. God, I hate this fucking website.
