I think about a pair of splendid morons and how much your writing has evolved since then! That story is amazing (and is written very well; I'm not putting it down) but it's fun watching your writing style develop and take on its own personality! So I guess when I think of you I think of "wow this is a writer who loves carry on SO MUCH and loves to share that with herself and the whole fandom." And clearly your writing matters to me because I feel this way and have never spoken to you 😂

THANK YOU! I think about APOSM a lot. I say this all the time, but it really was the fic that got me writing again after so many years. But you're so right, my writing's evolved since writing it! Sometimes I long for the simpler time that was those six weeks of my life, because writing seems to just keep getting harder, but maybe that's because I'm growing. Also I had to laugh yesterday; I finished a little one-shot for that same 'verse that ended up being 9000 words. 9000. It's literally just a smut fic, but I'm apparently incapable of writing "short" sex scenes anymore (I AM INCAPABLE OF WRITING SHORT ANYTHING ANYMORE).

Anyway, I love this, thank you. I do love Carry On so much; it's given me back my creativity & these amazing characters & not least of all, some amazing FRIENDS! I've met so many wonderful people through this fandom, & I've gotten to do things like talk to them every day & go new places with them & watch them create in person & sit around tables having meals with them & telling stories & I just love them all so much, fuck. 

So happy to share my writing with y'all, & so happy to evoke feels in others; that means the world to me.

Okay this is embarrassing but MONTHS ago I copied your BTL playlist over to Spotify because that’s the platform I use and huzzah its now my most played. I added a few songs (see “always” Isak danielson) but overall, I listen to it daily and I’ve shown many many friends but have held back that it was based on fanfiction because I’m never quite sure how to say that as an adult

Oh no don’t be embarrassed! I’m thrilled anyone likes something I made enough to copy it over! And I’m so glad you like it & have shared it. Re: your friends: I think broaching the topic of fanfiction sort of gets easier over time? Like, there’s literally nothing to be embarrassed about, but also I understand the embarrassment, if that makes sense. It’s a hobby like any other, really, & there is a TON of really good fanfic out there.

While we’re on the topic, my life in general is sort of in upheaval atm—lots of things are changing at once for me, & one of them is job-related. I was talking to Mr HH yesterday about All The Things™️, & he’s like, “Look on the bright side, maybe you’ll really like the new people you work with. Who knows, maybe one of them reads Carry On fanfiction, & they’ll be like, oh you’re The Honeyed Hufflepuff,” & I was just like....please....god....no 😂 (though in retrospect that might be sort of cool lmao)

Anywho. Just wanted to say thanks for reading the fic, & thanks for enjoying the playlist, & I’ll have to check out that song you mentioned 👀

'Fess Up! Fandom Humiliation

1. What’s the worst fanfic you’ve ever written/have thought about writing?

Worst I ever wrote was my first one. I don't even think I gave it a title but it was about a girl who was driving to Vegas with her two best friends for her 21st birthday to see the Backstreet Boys in concert. They run into two of them in an elevator (Kevin and Nick, I think) and get invited to a club -and blah-blah, AJ falls in love with Birthday Girl, bla-blah…Awful. But it was my first attempt and I hadn't found my voice yet!

2. Admit to a kink you’re ashamed you like.

As a woman who is fiercely independent I admit I am a little ashamed about enjoying when a strong character gets dominated. Oy.

3. Copy paste a line from the first smutty fanfic you wrote or fess up to a sexual fantasy you have about a character.

Oh, god no, on the line part. That thing will never see the light of day. So…um, Loki's plaything? LOL

4. Have you ever read or written RPS/RPF?

Everything I started writing from 2000 off and on until 2008 was RPS, since it was all mostly centered on at least one guy in *NSYNC or BSB or Christina Aguilera. I never wrote any RPF about them, though some of the first fics I ever read were RPF about BSB (Kevin/AJ or Kevin/Nick). I kind of shy away from it now, however. I love Hiddlesworth as a bromance, but fics about them actually hooking up make me a little uncomfortable because Hemzy has a wife and child (beautiful females, at that) and there's just a slight ick factor while reading them (I've read one, and while well-written, it made me feel gross). Same with RDJr and Hiddles…even though I had a good idea for a "Tombert/Downeyston" fic. It was quickly abandoned.

5. Most shameful ship?

Maleficent and Loki. I feel like no one else sees it.

6. Ever been at the center of fandom drama?

Yes, sadly. Just once.

7. What is your fandom guilty pleasure?

I don't believe in guilty pleasures.

8. Share something you did in fandom that you’re embarrassed about.

Inadvertently causing that drama. It's hard to make people understand your sarcasm and dry humor through simple text on a computer. And people are going to read it the way they want anyway so you can argue until you're blue in the face that you meant no insult and they'll simply call you a liar. Or an internal misogynist.

9. Describe the first time you read a smutty fanfic. What ship was it and what kinks were involved?

I don't remember the name of the fic (it was back in 2000, for crying out loud) but the author's name was Mistress Lynz. It paired Nick and Kevin—which I totally didn't ship (didn’t even know what that meant at the time). The major kink was bloodletting. It was…interesting.

10. Any fandoms you’d hate to admit you were a part of?

No I've been pretty open about them…

11. Just how often do you think about your favorite characters getting down and dirty?

Um… All. The. Time.

12. Someone found your delicious account/bookmarks/AO3 account or however you keep track of your favorite fics. What’s the one fic you’re going to be most humiliated about?

I don't think humiliated would be the right word. Embarrassed, maybe… But probably all the Thorki stuff. I love Thorki, but it's hard for others to understand. Especially if you're not a person familiar with shipping and slash fics and  aren't aware of all the damn homoeroticism in Marvel films. hahaha

13. Ever been caught reading smut/writing smut/drawing smut/looking at smutty drawings?

Yep. Don't care.

14. What would your parent/guardian/family friend think if they saw your tumblr?

I don't think they'd be all that surprised. I've always been a little different/marched to the beat of my own drum/ thought outside the box. So it would just be "That's so LaLa."

15. Oh shit you croaked without getting rid of the fandom stuff you saved to your computer. What’s your next of kin or friend going to find when they turn on your computer?

A lot of written smut, a lot of pix of Hiddles/RDJr/Sebastian Stan and their characters (Loki/Tony/Bucky) and a lot of FrostIron fanart. Naked FrostIron fanart.
