Rick and Morty Tea Pair! (10% Together): Rick's Portal Gun + Space Cruiser
Rick's Portal Gun
Featured Teas + Accents: Gunpowder, Raspberry Green, Sour Apple + lemon verbena and peel
Brewing style: normally this tea would be steeped at 180°F for two minutes, but to me, the best way to mimic the portal gun would be a green tea steeped too long and too hot. It's up to you which way you go!
Inspiration: I personally think the portal gun would taste pretty bitter/sour! It'd be a taste that's not too pleasant but also not unpleasant. Theoretically you could grow to like it, but most won't. I figured it'd also have a bit of a darker metallic taste! But the closest we can get to that regard read would be using something like Gunpowder when brewed too hot/long. I'll be experimenting in the future to see if there's other ways to get it there, but for now the blend is focusing on the sour aspect. I also think there'd be a hint of apple or raspberry, but decently faint. Hence the inclusion of Sour Apple and Raspberry Green! A little bit of lemon too for more of that sour taste, and I'm pretty satisfied for now.
Rick's Space Cruiser/Spaceship/Car
Featured teas + accents: Lapsang Souchong, Gunpowder, and Hojicha + lemon verbena and peel
Brewing style: you can steep this one pretty much like most black teas! Preferably at 195°F for two minutes, but you can also go longer if you'd like.
Inspiration: Metal. The ship would taste like metal. But that's pretty hard to convey in a tea, yeah? Instead I focused on more earthy and darker blends of tea with a small hint of lemon for the metal-like taste. Similarly to the portal gun, I'll be experimenting in the future to see how to best mimic the idea I have, but for now it's staying as is.
