Pansy Parkinson & Neville Longbottom + bathroom for both
how does the character prepare in the morning?
ms parkinson has a twice daily skin routine she has maintained since she was 15 years old that she does first thing in the morning (and last thing at night). yes, she has spent thousands on skincare and many have told her she's wasting her money, but her aesthetician has complimented her skin multiple times.
she eats a banana while waiting for her coffee to be ready, which she takes with almond milk, alongside her overnight oats, a glass of orange juice, and a pear. (she has absently ingested multiple stickers from the outside of her pears when the coffee doesn't hit her brain immediately.) then teeth are cleaned, as well as a swill of mouthwash, but she only flosses at night.
she has the timing down to a little over 17 minutes from first alarm to getting out the door.
do they sing in the shower?
there is only one place pansy sings and we aren't getting into it now. (it's at karaoke with blaise.)
in the shower pansy usually practices conversations she's gonna have to have in work tomorrow or notes for a presentation. she speaks 3 languages fluently the conversations can be in any one of those. sometimes cupid, her blue pitbull, sits on the other side of the glass door and responds to pansy talking to herself but pansy likes showers to scaldingly hot that it gets too steamy for cupid and he retreats back to his bed in her bedroom.
what kind of hair product/make-up do they use?
when pansy was a kid she had straight, black hair that was -- annoyingly to many -- easy to manage. shampoo and conditioner type didn't matter and with how often her mother made sure her hair was cut, it never needed any massive treatments for split ends or thinness.
then, at 18, she started dyeing her hair red and her hair's integrity was shot, so now she uses the fancy, only available in the salon kinda shampoo and conditioner, which adds even more money to her already expensive beauty regime but it's her money so leave her alone.
akin to this, she knows that even her "simple" makeup routine is due to the patriarchy convincing her she needs to look a certain way to exist as a female human, but when she's filling in her brows and putting on mascara, she's definitely not thinking of any man. every day is brows, lashes, highlighter, and tinted lip balm. four steps. which is more than zero, yes, but it's her face so leave her alone.
how clean is this character?
as a person, pansy is often busy, so sometimes things like emptying the dishwasher or putting the laundry away the second it's dry doesn't happen immediately. sometimes clothes can be left on the drying rack or bowls left in the dish rack by the sink for longer than others may like.
but pansy's house is always clean. there's never dust on any surfaces, the hardwood floor is regularly mopped in the kitchen and the hall, and the bins are always taken out in a timely manner. she's not precisely house proud, her home is more "lived in" than pristine, but she keeps it tidy.
does the character have thousands of shampoo/shower gel bottles by the shower, or do they use only the bare essentials?
the only things in pansy's shower are her shampoo, conditioner, body wash, loofa, and razor.
her bathroom cabinet on the other hand? open that mirrored door and things will tumble out if you're not ready to catch them or have a hand straight up to hold them in place. cos in the bathroom cabinet there are: a stock of cold and flu meds, plasters, toothpaste (the current tube and the already purchased replacement tube for when it runs out), all her skincare, spare razor heads, cotton buds, cotton pads, makeup remover fluid, face wipes, disinfectant for cuts and grazes, mini bottles of hand sanitiser so she can replace the one she keeps in her handbag when it's empty, deodorant (both stick and spray), piercing cleaning solution for her ears, and about 46 different shades of nail polish.
how does the character prepare in the morning?
professor longbottom's morning goes as such as soon as the alarm goes off: remove ermintrude the cat from his head where he has slept since he and neville went to bed last night, get out of bed after cracking his back, put on clean(-ish) jumper, ruffle hand through hair, judge if beard needs a trim in the mirror, downstairs for toast w/ peanut butter or poached egg (once it was both), cup of tea he will forget about and won't have time to reheat before class, put shoes on, back upstairs to brush teeth, quick head scratchies for ermintrude who just rolls over and goes back to sleep in the sunny spot, and out the door to class.
if it's first or second years, or one of his nicer seventh year groups, they will allow him to make another cup of tea which he does actually finish this time around.
do they sing in the shower?
every goddamn time. typically to/for ermintrude, who is the only cat neville has met who enjoy getting into the shower with neville, and will cry as if being brutally murdered on the otherside of the shower/bathroom door if neville doesn't let him in while he showers.
let the record show that neville is painfully aware he is not a good singer. but ermintrude likes it. and sometimes joins in, even if neville knows he doesn't know all the words.
what kind of hair product/make-up do they use?
neville's hair has been the same his whole life, just in varying lengths and cuts. so his shampooing and hair upkeep routine has remained the same for as long as he's been in control of it. he buys whatever shampoo and conditioner is on sale, using both until they're almost finished, then buys replacements. sometimes it's the same as previously, if the same hair product deal is happening, but it's not a requirement.
he's not fussy about scent. spending most of his time around plants, neville always carries an earthy-pollen smell about his person so worrying about scents in haircare products seems a little pointless. who cares if his shampoo is citrus and mint when his entire being smells like the lily that he got covered in pollen from? or if he's spent his whole afternoon repotting the mandrakes his ravenclaw second years repotted so badly during class (but they tried so hard and no one fainted so it's an improvement), he's just gonna smell like potting soil for the rest of the day regardless of his shampoo's fragrance.
how clean is this character?
despite how often his hands are in soil and fertiliser, neville is a clean person by nature. his ears stuck out quite a lot as a kid so he always remembered to wash behind them, and because, even five years since her death, neville knows his grandmother would tsk loudly at the sight of dirt and grit in his nail beds, he's meticulous about hand washing.
his home however is . . . despite working with plants every day, neville's home is full of even more plants.
the monstera is taking over most of his living room, and the orchid on the kitchen windowsill that should have wilted in the steam of his cooking daily has grown so tall, it has sprouted extra stalks to help support itself against the wall, the hairy fibres practically fusing with the wall.
so. sometimes neville finds it a bit tedious to clean around the plants. he does, he's not a total slob. but if he's not getting guests for a couple days, he's not gonna worry too much about it and just clean near the plants.
does the character have thousands of shampoo/shower gel bottles by the shower, or do they use only the bare essentials?
as already discussed, neville has a lot of plants. so where one may expect to find shampoo bottles and shower gel, neville has randomly place small potted plants. you know, the usual sort of thing -- cuttings from something he doesn't want to die, tiny cacti he saw while passing the florist's and couldn't leave in the shop window, a shrivelfig he really should replant into actual earth but seems to be enjoying its time in a small pot by itself just left of the plughole.
of course, ermintrude regularly attempts to eat any of the plants neville is cultivating in the bathroom, so they get swapped out more often than the more permanent plant placements in the rest of neville's house. that said, neville would rather ermintrude ate the leaf off a baby venus flytrap than any shampoo or body wash.
