The Evening Is Toasty; Thompson
Sometimes, going to a skate park can be boring but surprisingly way better than sitting at home staring at the ceiling in your bedroom. There’s very rarely any real drama other than someone fucking up and breaking their arm or something, but when they do happen, it can be very interesting. As a good pastime, Reith would sit on a bench with glasses, doodling to the sounds of anything with wheels rolling and skidding on the concrete. In a way, an active environment calmed her, because she at least knew she wasn’t alone and everyone was tending to their own business.
As she was shading the sketch in her notebook, the people in the park began to get restless. This caught Reith’s attention rather quickly as she looked over her notebook, her brows furrowed. There it was, the drama. Two boys fighting over some girl who had been clearly cheating on one guy and using the other. The girl the two guys raised tension over didn’t seem distressed at all by the situation, honestly. Sure, the girl in the middle didn’t want the two to fight, but Reith could tell that the girl was mildly satisfied with the boys she toyed with practically were willing to kill each other for her attention.
“Interesting,” Reith said, completely unimpressed by the whole situation, but couldn’t find the willpower to go back and mind her own business. This was priceless! Literally! Not faked, not on tv, real life raw action that you can catch live in Flagstaff, Arizona. It would have been way more entertaining if Reith didn’t eventually recognize one of the dudes getting ready to fight. “Oh my god, what?!”
She quickly put her book and pencil down, but honestly it was in such a hurry that she hadn’t even noticed her pencil and notebook ended up falling under the bench she sat on. She hopped on her feet and ran over to the scene before the brawl pursued.
Reith bumped the girl harshly out the way and grabbed the guy by the shoulders. “Dude?! DUDE. Stop, what are you doing? What are you doing?!” She knew he already had enough way too many times run-ins with authorities to not get indicted with more serious charges. This invoked a bit of terror in her voice. Completely mortified that he would get in trouble again and this time over some girl who wasn’t worth!
