"There's the bright and glamorous side of me they all see... and then there's the secret side I show only to you. Hope you're admiring the view all the same, doll."
What do you think of superhero descendants/relatives who joined the "dark side"? People like Katarina Armstrong, Victoria Sinclair, Arthur Pemberton and Walter Pratt.
*Shrug* I think its tragic, but then again I think it's tragic when anybody uses their time on this Earth to do harm unto others. I can only imagine what their relatives/predecessors would think but that's the kind of private grief that my professional code of ethics encourages me to avoid digging into in public.
But I was also always told to define my terms, so let's touch on each of your examples, briefly.
Katarina Armstrong I think is an interesting case. While she does go by the codename "Spy Smasher", having ties to the FBI, CIA, INTERPOL, CHECKMATE, DEO and any other spook organization you can name one credential she has NOT actually established is her relationship to Alan Armstrong, the Mystery Man with whom she shares a name.
You'd think that would come up during her trial for federal treason and yet here we are.
Victoria Sinclair (AKA Roulette II) is a particularly tragic case because she seems under a terrible misunderstanding as to her actual parentage.
(A mug shot of Sinclair after her first arrest)
She seems publically under the impression that her grandparents are Debra Sinclair, a debutante/gambling mistress and Terry Sloane, the golden age Mister Terrific. Legal records indicate, however, that her actual maternal grandfather is NED Sloane, Terry's younger brother. Considering the fact that Debra and Ned were, yknow, actually married.
I'm not saying that something untoward did NOT happen, I'm just saying that this is Terry Sloane we're talking about here.
(Arthur Pemberton, captured in battle with the JSA All Stars by NBC 4, New York)
Arthur Pemberton doesn't even seem to have much personal animosity to his heroic relation. He's just a mercenary who happens to be the son of Sylvester Pemberton's older brother, an older brother Sylvester has publically said he was never close to owing to the dynamics of rich northeastern WASP families in his day and age. Walter Pratt...would require a terrible rundown all his own in relation to the sordid details of his birth and raising. Suffice to say I don't place any blame for his terrible actions on those who came before or after him
As anticipated, here’s a tiny post about Lydia’s running styles according to her characters.
In (almost) chronological order: arm waving sort of feminine running in The 39 Steps, running for your life in Absentia, running for your life in that arm waiving sort of feminine way in Whitechapel. Then we have the adorable Rebecca and her floppy hands inexperienced running style / Phoebe Dynevor stalking in Ten Percent. Finally, my favourite: Red Election. Beatrice running is so sexy. I find that she runs in a very controlled and practiced form. And she runs fast. Look at the acceleration in the last gif! 💨 💨💨
(More of Beatrice’s running here)
Who did it better? SD or LL?
LL gets bonus points for wearing heels. (and for showing us legs)
I was bored.
