The Case of the Pizzeria Killer
I used to like "Five Nights at Freddy's" but over time the lore got needlessly complicated. To me the best Era of those games was FNAF 1, 2, & 3, so I decided to just write up my favorite parts of the lore just for my own entertainment.
I think the modern games are so bogged down with tiny details that I'm sick of them. So, I'm going to paint this with the broadest strokes. I want to avoid using any of the names as much as I can.
The First Victim
Sometime in the the late 70s, the dead body of a child was discovered outside of a Pizzeria called Freddy Fazbear's Pizza. At the time, it seemed like an isolated incident, they couldn't have known it at the time, but this terrible tragedy was actually the beginning of a serial killer who likes to target children and likes to use the restaurant as his hunting ground.
The Missing Children Incident
Later in 1983, the franchise had grown, Freddy Fazbear's Pizza was a popular destination for kids / families to dine in, play games, and win prizes. But, tragedy struck again when five children were reported missing. An investigation discovered that someone using one of the Mascot costumes lured kids one of the backrooms.
The bodies were never found, but the children were presumed dead. Ultimately, this incident lead that Fazbear's Pizza location to close.
The second part of the story, where people complained about the smell and mucus coming from the animatronics leads us to conclude that the dead bodies of the children were stuffed into the animatronics. It's likely that when the owners of the company discovered this, they covered it up.
Five More Killings
Later, in 1987, a new and improved Freddy Fabear's Pizza opened. This new location featured more advanced animatronics with facial recognition software used to identify known criminals. They company was trying their best to avoid a tragedy like what happened in 1983.
Unfortunately, they didn't realize there was something wrong with the Animatronics. You see the new "Toy" Animatronics used parts from the original 1983 models, and as a result, as noted by one of the night guards, the "Toys" began acting odd or "twitchy" at night.
However, tragedy hit the 1987 location, because the killer struck again. Five more children were missing.
What the people couldn't know at the time was that the animatronics were haunted. The five original victims were haunting the original animatronics that were used for parts, and now five more ghosts seemed to have possessed the Toy animatronics.
The animatronics started acting strangely during the day, and one of them managed to jump up and bite one of the security guards. The victim lost their frontal lobe, and people in the company would call this particular incident the "Bite of '87."
After the incident, the company was forced to downscale. That meant scrapping the Toy animatronics, and refurbishing the original animatronics.
It took time for the memories of the two incidents to fade, but a third establishment was open by 1993.
That 1993 location chugged along without major scandals. No doubt several night guards died because of the "malfunctioning" animatronics, but no other incidents like several dead children were reported.
The Final Confrontation
What the company could never understand was the secret war between the serial killer and his victims.
Soon, every Animatronic at Freddy's was haunted by an angry spirit. They were trapped at the restaurant, desperate for vengeance. The ghosts lashed out at the night guards, confusedly thinking it was the killer.
Much later, they finally got their chance. The killer broke into the abandoned pizzeria looking for the mascot costume that he used for the killings. They tried to fight, but the killer managed to disable and disassemble the animatronics one by one.
Their angry ghosts still lingered.
The killer, frightened, tried slipping on the mascot costume hoping it would give him power over them.
Unfortunately for him, the mechanics inside the costume were unsafe. The safety mechanisms snapped from old age, and he was left to die in a pool of his own blood.
The Last Cover Up
Eventually, the killer's corpse was discovered in the "safe room" of the rundown restaurant. To avoid another scandal, Fazbear's owners covered it up by sealing the room with the killer's body still inside, where it could hopefully lie undisturbed forever.
