I just had an epiphany on how to write Satine. (It's kinda AU I know. Not sure this works in 100% Canon compliant writing but whenever I write the canon alters itself to my whims so that doesn't really matter)
She comes from a proud warrior culture that is rich and deep where religion is weapons and armor is your face some days. Comes from a world that is a shell of itself because of that culture and yet the culture still survived on it despite that. Comes from watching that proud culture get reduced to meaningless fighting in the streets and children dead in the crossfire.
She wants peace. She wants change. She wants to live.
But she is not looking to eradicate her culture despite what everyone says or what the Fandom sometimes pushes. Nothing in her times she's on screen does she say she wants to get rid of that deep and rich culture. In fact she says she wants to respect that tradition and culture but move forward to peace with it. She don't ban the armor she simply asks they put down thier weapons.
She's a fighter all her own, she's Mandalorian. She has to be. But she fight with words not fists and ideas not bullets and she fights and fights and fights. She's just not the fighter thier used to. She's a lawyer in a culture of warriors.
She's Erin Reagan. I mean that how you should (not that I'm saying you have to) write her. She's not the warrior like the others. She doesn't whip out a weapon at her problems. But she's still a fighter. She still fights for what's right. She still fights to make a difference save lives defend the innocent and attack the evil. But not like her family. She's just as capable just as smart and still one of them. But when they fight at the dinner table often it's her verses them and she holds her ground. She doesn't always win but she fights and they respect that.
Now Satine doesn't get the same respect that Erin does but they're the same! And they both deserve it.
