ok So, Based on what I remember of mandalorian society at the time of the empire and The imperial mandalorian super commandos and what happened to Sabeen Wren and her brother.

I decided to question what in the world happens to small clans or mandalorian houses when their families are put under direct threat from the empire and also how horrible of a time it was.

I mean they barely had any time to recuperate after maul and most of the population of mandalore specifically were believers in peace right? (warriors banished to the moon) and the Supercommandos of maul were seen as the heroes that saved sundari from syndicates (that was staged) and overthrew Satine Kryze.

But then maul came to power so there was another round of infighting bokatan and the super commandos fought. and bokatan asked Ahoka tano ( a non jedi "jedi"/ the republic ) for help. Knowing that they needed it, even if the people would hate the short occupation.

And then just as bo katan finally starts ruling she is overthrown and betrayed by the Empire/Gar saxon. Literally no time to breathe OMG and I assume Gar Saxon was like a puppet state/Dictatorship for the empire and actively oppressed their own people. bro was able to do it for 20? years ? Successfully? Mandalorian space was locked down from outsiders? Those domes must have been like literal hell or something, especially once they started using families as bartering tools for loyalty and threatened to eliminate entire clans/groups and were really good at it? bro.

and just imagine no wonder most rebellions we saw came from outside the actual planet of mandalore that place was locked tight... I mean maybe many didn't mind it or something because i dont think Mandalore has ever had a non monarchical government? (is that true? )

Anyway - say like a kid breaks into an imperial storage thing and because of how strict Gar saxon holds the population for the empire the child is essentially branded a traitor on the spot and in order to show what happens when children/Anyone do things like this. So they ask for a trade, the child's life for the clans ? like ok this kid obviously is really good to have snuck into this imperial facility and we need to make a show of force, BAM, threaten the clan and potentially get some soldiers for the trade.

Parents as much as they love the kid are not going to endanger an entire clan for them, seriously. So it's not an easy family decision/ very easy political decision. A pledge of the clan's loyalty to the Empire/Gar Saxon, that could have a small clan/house in good political standing with the empire. The kid would be raised to be a dedicated Imperial mandalorian Supercommando that will probably grow to hate/not care about their house/clan/rebels for giving them away, and so are more likely to do the things asked of them by the Empire/Gar saxon.

this would also be normal because that's how things go in mandalorian warrior culture no?

It's what partially happened to sabeen wrens brother ony he belonged to a powerful house with connections. 

Does anyone have any thoughts?

like is it shameful to have to do that as a mandalorian parent?

Color practice of a scene from Kayn and vara’s story !

Kayn was stationed on an imperial ship over mandalore during the purge, and as the ship was going down Kayn ran into vara who had just been abandoned to die by her master. Kayn was looking for a warriors death through vara but what Kayn didn’t know, was that she was the reason vara had been left to die in the first place.

Ok, I am now officially far beyond the point where saving is possible! I'm so deap into Star Wars you could start treating it like a 4th personality of mine.

A litte backgroundstory: A friend of mine wants to paint their walls and gets rid of the baby pink (realy bright pink, not a soft one) and asked me for opinions.

Sure, I'm always willing to help.

Then they made a few suggestions: grey, blue, orange or green, with accents of red, black or gold.

Nice colors. And look good together.

My reaction just was a little diffrent, bc I automatically translated the meaning of those colors from what they mean to Mandalorians, when they paint their armor.

So asking which loved one they lost and scince when are the talking to their parents again, was not the correct response to the grey-red combination. The look on their face when the realization hit what i just said and where it came from was a 'why?' combined with a look at the sealing as if there was an explanation hiding why im like this.

Thinking about Mandalorian family sizes and putting on my anthropologist hat

I know there's been a lot of jokes about "Mandos adopt ALL THE KIDS" and "giant Mando families".... but a lot of what we see in canon isn't actually supporting that. While we DO see close knit extended kin bonds, and little evidence of the nuclear family, tending to Clan-family-kinship instead ;

What we don't actually see is large, single generational reproduction. That is to say, a particular set of parents within the Clan- they don't have a large number of children themselves. The Fetts have two children, Kryze has two, Skirata has three with his first wife. A particular parent-child set seems to be more what we would consider "normal".

Which, given the societal context, makes a ton of sense.

The cost of raising, training, and equipping soldiers- expensive. That's going to put pressure on families to have fewer kids, so that they can equally support the ones they do have (probably also tends towards spacing out the kids. Irish twins Verd'goten is probably just as tough to save for as college funds).

The GDP of the planet certainly isn't coming from farming (Disney has it that the planet barely grows anything; Legends has plenty of growth). Instead, we see a focus on industrial productions like ships, weapons, and mercenary soldiers. These are not industries with a pressure for large workforces the way that farming is.

Fairly functional healthcare system, with some moments of interuption by warfare. Probably a reasonable expectation that your kids will leave to adulthood, and decent access to birth control. Though this system is definitely interupted by warfare, which:

Wartime. Mandalore is in periods of warfare from roughly 60 BBY onwards. This includes Mereel's Civil War, Satine's Clan War, the Galactic Civil War, and the Imperial Age. Even outside of this period, they're constantly stated to be a warfare focussed society. It's like- their entire thing. Guess what happens in war? Lower birth rate. Fewer kids.

TLDR: "average Mando has ten kids" factoid is just statistical error. Average Mando has two kids. Kal Skirata, aka clone wars george, who adopts 100 kids, is an outlier and should not have been counted
