“Is this too much?” He asked softly, looking over the forms drenched in receipts and order histories. “I hope this isn’t too much.”
He looked to Jahee as she hadn’t answered, his brow furrowed as she found her expression almost fearful.
“What? What is it?”
“Well...um sir...” She bit her lip, tensing, placing a hand before her mid-level. “This, would be a reasonable level you see?”
He nodded.
She threw up her hand far above her head, sweat threatening to bead down her temples.
“And this is where you are.”
“Oh.”
“Please tell me these are refundable purchases...”
“No.”
“Oh my god...”
“I don’t think it’s too much,” He remarked, frowning. “I think MC will see the meaning behind it.”
“And the money,” She muttered. “You know how they feel about you spending money on them!”
“Yes but this is meaningful, they’ll have to figure that I wanted to do something special.”
“Sir, I know you want me to agree, and a bit of me wants to...but I can’t,” She let out a deep breath. “I don’t know if this will end how you’re hoping it will.”
“How so?”
“It is clear that MC feels the same as you do for them but...they might feel as though they have to compensate or that they aren’t enough in comparison.”
He crinkled his nose, the worries beginning to seep inside of him.
“Oh no...” He murmured, cursing beneath his breath. “What can I even do now?”
“Well...we could-” She held back for a moment, glancing at him. “Sir, you don’t mind...getting rid of some of the things do you?”
“I suppose not...”
“Then you ought to get going before they arrive.”
“Could you perhaps try to stall MC for me?”
She tipped her head confusedly. “How so? You want me to drop everything and rush over to them to keep them at bay?”
“If I pay you extra would you be willing?”
“Mr. Han I don’t-”
“I’d be willing to attempt to find someone to take care of Elizabeth 3rd.”
She was gone.
And soon enough, so was he.
He had asked you to meet him at a small cottage his family had purchased long ago, a comfortable little home that sat just before a grand lake.
And inside, had been drenched with flowers, to put it lightly.
Tulips to be exact.
They dotted just about nearly every corner of the home, sunlight dripping in against the petals delicately.
“How long do you think you can keep them?” He questioned, his phone held to his ear as he stepped inside the aged, yet still lovely building.
“Not too long, I just got off the phone with them and they sound as though they’re already on their way now,” She sighed. “I had to beg them just to wait for me to get there.”
“Did they sound excited?” He felt a spark of delight inside of him, a smile touching his lips.
“Yes sir, they did.” She huffed, reluctantly. “They’re coming out now, I’ve got to go.”
“Okay,” he let out a deep breath. “Thank you Jahee, I don’t think I’ve told you that yet.”
She stopped as if confused, her response muddled, unexpected.
“Oh-um you’re...you’re welcome...Mr.Han.” She said quietly. “...Good luck.”
And she hung up.
It hadn’t felt like long until he received another call from her, nearly dropping a vase of the tulips as he scrambled to his phone.
Yet it turned out, he didn’t need to.
For as he tried to set it down, you stepped inside.
And you could hardly say a thing.
“J-Jumin...?” You spoke hardly above a whisper, a hand hovering over your mouth in surprise. “What...what is this...?”
He clumsily moved the vase to the floor, doing his best not to cringe as he heard it topple onto the floor, the flowers spilling out.
“M-MC...!”
He looked to Jahee, only receiving an apologetic look, pointing to her phone.
And as he checked his, he saw her message.
‘They didn’t want to keep you waiting.’
“I-I’m sorry I didn’t know how to do this. I-I’m not exactly f-familiarized with this sort of subject and I wanted it t-to be meaningful-”
“What sort of subject...?”
“I-I...” He held back, already seeing Jahee step outside, giving him a small dip of her head before disappearing, the only sound remaining being that of the creaking of the closing door.
“I wanted to tell you something...something important to me.” He eventually admitted, fiddling with his fingers nervously. “I wanted to make it seem extraordinary in some way so...I did this.”
“I haven’t even been to this place in years,” He simpered. “My father took me here ages ago and told me stories of how his grandparents would show him how to skip pebbles against the waters and spend his nights outside counting stars...it made me think of you.”
“How so?”
“Everything else in my life feels...cluttered-tightly packed and overcrowded,” He began. “I feel as if I’m drowning almost all the time.”
“But when I’m with you...I feel like I’m able to take a breath, and be free from it all,” He smiled weakly. “Just like this place did for my father.”
You couldn't help but soften at his words.
“I’m...I’m in love with you.” He laughed nervously, feeling his heart tremble as it finally said it. “Those words don’t do it justice but...but I am.”
“You are...?”
He nodded, hopelessly.
“Yes and I-I wanted this to be grand and wonderful for you but I didn’t think that it might be...overwhelming? I suppose?” He scoffed. “I suppose it doesn’t matter in the end how I describe it-”
“I love you too.”
He stopped dead in his tracks, and stared at you.
Whether or not it was shock and awe, he couldn’t tell.
But perhaps it didn’t matter.
“...What?”
You grinned embarrassedly, curling the messy strands of hair behind your ear.
“Y-Yeah!” You exclaimed, your cheeks heating up more and more by the second. “I-I never thought I’d say it but I do..!”
“R-Really?” He tried to hide the laugh that slipped from his lips, almost in disbelief.
“Really!” You beamed. “I-If you still feel the same...?”
He nodded, chuckling softly despite how glee nearly overwhelmed him. “Of course I do.”
He approached you, gently taking your hand in his own.
“What does that mean then?” You asked, giving his palm a small, affectionate squeeze.
He thought for a moment. “I’m hoping it means at least one thing.”
“What’s that?”
He grinned, tipping his forehead against your own, feeling truly content beside you.
“I can finally say I’ve found the love of my life.”
