I'm pretty sure the author made Lu Yizhan a wife guy just so that Xie Ta wouldn't have competition for the spot of "Better love interest". And then made Fang Dian because they needed to explain Why Lu Yizhan was such a wife guy.

And damn they succeeded. If Fang Dian was my girlfriend I wouldn't shut up about her either.

what would you guys think if lu yizhan and fang dian (after bai liu became a door or whatever) did not got married bc they wanted to see bai liu be present on their wedding

Brisk Proposition (GHG - Lu Yizhan/Fang Dian) Spoiler alert up to chapter 330

"You love him."

A beat of a moment. The rustles of wind blew, carrying the petals that bloomed in the spring.

"Who?"

Lu Yizhan looked at Fang Dian questioningly when she said it out of nowhere.

"Bai Liu."

"Bai Liu? What are you talking about? He's a good friend that I have to keep my eye on. If it's about that, you should know what will happen if he's left alone."

"It's not about that. Let's not play fools here, Lu Yizhan." Fang Dian gave him a soft smile as she turned to look at the distant three with blooming flowers.

"The spring is the season of love, but to you- it's winter is it not?" Fang Dian  paused a beat, "Winter, the season where you decided to be involved with him."

Lu Yizhan gave a laugh, "If you see anyone jump into a river in winter you would try to drag the person out as well."

"That's right. It was also the starting point."

When it doesn't seem Fang Dian is going to change her mind, Lu Yizhan fell silent.

"Why do you think I love him?"

"Because I'm the same."

Lu Yizhan widens his eyes to look at Fang Dian with a gaping mouth.

"You? He- what-"

"You look like a fish."

"Well excuse me for that!" Lu Yizhan let out a cough, closing his mouth. He cleared his throat. "So...you love Bai Liu."

"He's got the charm, doesn't he? On top of that handsome face of his, he had this unexplainable pull even though you know he's..." Fang Dian let out a shallow sigh and a laugh, "A person that is not worthy of loving."

"That's a really cruel statement." Lu Yizhan frowned.

"Why, a person like Bai Liu, he will never love you back. He's such a person without emotion. No matter what happens he will have a straight face and do things his way."

"But we still love him anyway."

"That's right. Isn't he the one that's cruel?"

Lu Yizhan shook his head. He gazed forward with a sad look.

"Is it really cruel when he can't help it? That's just how Bai Liu is."

"Is he really? Bai Liu... the reason he will never love anyone...isn't it because of Xie Ta?"

Lu Yizhan remembers back in the winter where he dragged Bai Liu out of the river as he held on into a rotting body of a child, not willing to let it go even though he's close to drowning. He remembers the chilling view of Bai Liu feeding a corpse his food that he never ate himself.

"We're not talking about this anymore."

He gets up from his seat, taking his coffee that has grown cold with him.

"Bai Liu will never love anyone but Xie Ta, which makes us a pair of unfortunate people that fall into the charm of Bai Liu and will never escape."

"Fang Dian, what are you trying to say?"

"I'm propositioning something, Lu Yizhan. Since we're an unfortunate couple, why don't we be one?"

"..."

"Bai Liu can be with us, he's definitely a person you can lean on, he'll make you feel you're a precious person. That's his area of expertise after all, he can accommodate anyone and make them flourish. But not otherwise, we will never make Bai Liu feel like he's a precious and loved person. That's why, why don't you be with me instead?"

Lu Yizhan looks at a smiling Fang Dian in confusion.

"Were- were you asking me out?"

"Okay," He murmured into Fang Dian who returned his hug. "Okay, the two of us together would ease Bai Liu as well."

"See? This is why we'll never get any other partner. If they don't run away because of us, then Bai Liu will definitely scare them away."

"He just cares for us, he wouldn't want us to get into relationships with bad people."

"Based on Bai Liu's ideal criteria for us, no one will pass it."

"That might be true."

"And that guy dare to say he doesn't care at all."

The two of them chuckles to themselves as they hug each other.
