Emily wandered through the store, scanning the shelves with growing frustration as she searched for the perfect birthday gift for her dad. She sighed, glancing at Amadeus beside her.
“What if I just bought Dad a boat?” she mused, her tone light but laced with exasperation. The thought was absurd—she definitely couldn’t afford a boat, and her parents would probably keel over if she spent that kind of money on a gift.
