The aquatic critter of the day is the Fangtooth Fish, a genus of ray-finned fish! The fangtooth has the largest teeth proportional to its body of any fish! It's teeth are so large that it can't close its mouth. Despite their fearsome teeth, they are primarily filter feeders. Their aquatic name means "Unarmed stomach!"

Happy Monday everyone, and to a good week ahead! Today we are focusing on the fangtooth fish!
The fangtooth fish, known also as the Anoplogastridae family, are a deep sea fish, known by their terrifying teeth, and predatory disposition. They live in the dark of the ocean, finding their home as low as 16,000 feet below sea level. That is well into the Abyssopelagic zone, otherwise just known as The Abyss.
Despite their terrifying state, the fangtooth is actually not damaging to humans, and non aggressive towards us. They're relatively small within both species that are referred to as fangtooth. With the common fangtooth only getting as large as 16 cm at its max and the shorthorn fangtooth getting about half that size. However, even with their large size they possess the largest teeth in proportion to body size in the ocean. They hunt using their sense of smell in these dark conditions being one of the few deep sea animals without bioluminescence.
As with any other deepsea fish the fangtooth regularly goes about vertical migration at night time. Rising from the deep dark at night for food and other such opportunities at the water's surface and uppermost layer.

Weird Fact of the Day: The Fangtooth Fish (Anoplogaster cornuta) gets its name from its giant teeth, which are the largest teeth in proportion to body size of any fish in the ocean. “As for Lust, I’m changing its design to be more bestial and less humanoid. Its new description below: Wyvern-like body with dragonfly wings, serpentine tail, doesn’t have legs but has a pair of emaciated humanoid arms ending in claws, the chest is filled with a mass of tumour-like egg-sacks (like frog eggs or octopus eggs), mouth shaped like a fangtooth fish, still has the proboscis tongue, upper-half of the face shaped like a person, and with wavy dark hair.”
