This was one of the workshops during this years Filipin@-American National Historical Society (FANHS) Conference in San Diego, CA. It was presented by those who are Kalinga and grew up in the region knowing their culture, people, & history. In the workshop we learned about Kalinga culture, dances, meanings in their woven textiles, their heirloom beads, jewelry, and more.

FANHS 2014 Conference:
Here are three sneak peak photos of one of the workshops (and by far my favorite!) during the FANHS conference in San Diego. You guys should be able to guess what this workshop was about right? c:
But if you can't, the workshop is on the Kalinga, of their culture, dances, meanings of their textiles, their heirloom beads, jewelry, etc. It was hosted by those who are Kalinga themselves and grew up in the Cordillera region.
As I was editing the FANHS 2014 Conference video I realized that if I added all the video clips from the Kalinga workshop it would be over an hour, with the workshop at least half an hour alone (most likely more as I have more clips). So I decided to take one of the clips and put it in the official conference video and make another video just for the workshop. That way the video won't end up like a very long movie and if you just want to watch the workshop you can see the video by itself. Sounds good right? Honestly you guys if I recorded every workshop I attended just like what I did during the Kalinga workshop you guys would be sitting and watching a more than 5 hour video. Of course I personally would have no problem with that hahaha.
Where I am right now in the editing of the Kalinga workshop video it is roughly almost 30 minutes in. I still have several other video clips to edit so it just might extend to an hour I don't know we will see. But for those who are interested in the Kalinga culture and learning a few dances and information on certain textiles and jewelry, especially if you have or are a part of a dance group I highly recommend you guys to watch the entire video once its finished and uploaded because the wealth of information I've learned from someone who is Kalinga is very worth the time.
I am scheduling and pushing myself to finish editing the video hopefully by tonight and uploaded by tomorrow night after work so you guys can watch and learn from the workshop like I did as well because not only is it very knowledgeable but its also very entertaining.
