&&. FANNI // @fannicroy
He’d found the room empty. There were things he recognised as Fanni’s scattered about, not enough to make the room messy, but just enough to make it look like home. Joshua’s flight had been a long one, and he was in no state to see her, so he seized the opportunity that had presented itself and stole one of her towels — did they belong to his fiancée or to the island? no matter — and stepped into the shower, eyes closed, facing the water. He didn’t hear the door open, and then there was a sound behind him and he nearly smacked his head on the glass reaching for the stolen towel.
“Shit!” Fanni. The curse became a smile. His mother said he smiled too much, it no longer worked the way it was supposed to, but he didn’t listen. “Mndani. Unaonekana kuvutia. Didn’t hear you come in.”
