I think that Florida, for being large, is in fact rather small when it comes to active, quality cosplay.
TBH though, it's not just the quality cosplayers I know either. Literally EVERY cosplayer has some degree of separation. Most especially in the Central Florida area where I'm from because of all the conventions with shows like Metrocon, Shadocon, and Khaoticon.
It's easy to tell with facebook. Like if I say a random cosplayer I know from anywhere in the state that goes to conventions and actually makes friends, and you don't have any mutual friends with them, you could probably go through their friends list and find someone you ARE friends with. I can't tell you how many times I've met a cool person at a con, gone home to friend them, and I see we have like 6 mutual friends in common (which is kind of crazy considering I only have like 141 friends on facebook)
I feel like I should do research on that.
