This is what we've been reduced to. The tactical fanny pack. Truth is there is no satisfactory solution to carrying around your wallet, phone, and keys when not wearing a jacket. I stuff mine in my pockets and roil in shame at the lumps I've just created, destroying any proper lines my outfit had. But it's better than the alternative: the man purse. What a horrific invention. I'd rather use a bag from the grocery store and live with that than the utter pretentious emasculation of one of those things. Back in the day we all had briefcases but paperwork has gone digital, and so only those lucky few who carry laptops have bags anymore... and that's still useless at the grocery store. And no, I'm not strapping on a backpack when I go shopping or to the movies. Not only is it far too unwieldy and easy to put down and forget somewhere, but it's a bit more noticeable than I'd like. Besides, I'm not a teenager. This is something I've outgrown in most settings. People like @joerogan champion the use of the fanny pack, and I'm starting to wonder if I'm going to get past the stigma and start using one someday. Yes, they're a bit dumb looking, but the truth is... I just don't have a better idea. They're secure, accessible, easy to shift out of the way, and leave your outfit unmolested save for this little kangaroo pouch you're carrying around. This might be the way of the future.
