The stadium was humid and full of shouting, excited fans. The beams of floodlights were stuck onto the ring like they were knotted tight onto the side ropes. TV cameras were on the air with the typical announcers and broadcasting crews. Tonight was the time of the Heavyweight Championship match.
Her plump cheeks hid gritty, tough dentures from the several facial blows during this season. Attempts at getting her down and confused had proved futile every match thus far; she was bottom-heavy, and she knew it full well. Things might change for the worse, though. Though she had a thick build, she was smaller than her opponent.
They had a stare-down during their preparation time, and they both told each other a whole lot more through their eyes than the commentators ever could since the season started. They were both big-time names nowadays, but only because of their long conflict. It's a thing they've both had for years, but it's only tonight the settle is going to be scored.
The referee approaches a mic in the center of the ring. It's time.
Her footsteps cause the canvas floor to shake, and a few front-row spectators actually back a little into the crowd, intimidated. Up rises the opposition, a 6' 4" giant of a man with a hardy, roughened 6-pack. She stands there unfazed in spite of being a whole foot shorter. She knew if he tried hard enough, she could fly out of the ring like a falling boulder, but hopefully some of the aerial tricks she got from her coach would do her good.
The ref ran through the rules. Same old, same old. Then came the time-slowing tension when he raised his arm, prepped to call the start. He lowers his stance, arms and legs apart, hands ready to grab her shoulders. She curves her arms wide across, ready to counter with a charge into the abs.
The ref shifts his discriminatory eyes between the both of them. Bending his elbow, and inhaling sternly...
