Why not have the fanciful imperial guards in capitals and stuff wear gold-coated face-obscuring masks based on the countenances of statues depicting great and powerful warriors.
Also, the masks can open up around the mouth section so the guards may consume sustenance.
Could be cool to have boots that incorporate some kind of metal or stone that sparks when experiencing abrasion so that when a character slides their shoes against the floor in a certain way they can cast a shower of sparks.
I think a cape make from metal plates and sturdy ropes could be cool, if a little loud.
Could also have the metal plates be taken from the armour of fallen allies or enemies or maybe both.
Maybe each metal plate could have an image carved into it showing a story, maybe related to how it was obtained or who it was obtained from, or the images could just be there to look neat I suppose.
