Drawing them makes me feel energized…it's so much fun!!
I finished reading "Goblet of Fire". It was interesting, and I'm glad I got to learn more about Crouch Jr.
He seems like a good match for Lucian (lol)
Crouch Jr. and Lucian… they're so fun to draw.
I'm reading "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire" now. Crouch Jr. is so talented, it makes my heart race…
A manga about Crouch Jr. and Lucian. I want to dig deeper into them…
Fantasy Husbands Barty Crouch Jr x Lucian
I'm thinking about what to do about their relationship.
Continuing my D&D kick lately, here’s an an AU of Clarence and Arliss in my current group campaign’s world, Fenian. Clarence is a tiefling warlock with A Mysterious Past, and Arliss is a Fenian elf ranger. Arliss is definitely Extremely Not Thrilled with his new travel companion.
So I did a thing... *covers face*
(So this is a personal piece I did for a fantasy world I call "Twin Souls". It's alright I guess. Anyways, I thought some people might be interested, so here you go! If people like it I can post more. There's a little bit of language towards the end, but it's very slight and all in good fun. Warnings for overly lovey dovey husbandos lol. All characters are mine of course)
Starshadow Citadel was considered to be one of the most beautiful faerie cities to have ever existed. It is older than most fae cities (which are ancient to begin with), and possessed an extremely substantial amount of influence at the height of its power. Now, after almost two centuries of demon occupancy it is a flicker of its former glory. Even still, after being retaken and partially rebuilt, it is beginning to return to it's previous splendor.
The stars have returned, and the endless twilight that once filled the skies has washed away the hellish red of the demon's corruption. Starshadow dwells inside Auran you see, and time and space work much differently there. For one thing it is almost always twilight, occasionally transferring into night and then into dawn. You can always see the thousands of stars that fill Auran's skies; Starshadow is aptly named, for it is considered to have the best view of the sky among the many fae holdings.
Many of it's white spires and towers have been rebuilt, the temple of light is filled with starsong again, and the vast gardens that covered the fortress city are now growing back. Fae have begun to return to the city en-masse, and among these fae is Kaela'mith Kitsune, the son of the last high prince of Starshadow. He himself is actually responsible for defeating the evil that had murdered his family, most of his people, and corrupted his home. That was past history however, (though recent history) and a story for another time.
Kael brought with him a powerful werewolf mage, named Ronin. Ronin was once an unstable, broken, agonized mercenary... but with the arrival of Kael in his life, and an act of immense mercy, the big werewolf began to heal. The friendship and respect gained by this act eventually bloomed into great love for one another, and then from there, desire. Once it would have been considered treason to bring a were creature into Auran, much less marry one. Things have changed however, and Starshadow has never been known for it's subtlety or political correctness. With these changes came new ideas and new acceptances; this new era has brought nothing but healing and revival to Starshadow and it's previously scattered people. The citadel city is currently thriving under the rule of Kael and Ronin, both being well liked and respected.
...
Kael sighed deeply as he flew above the city, gossamer wings shimmering in the starlight. He was pleased with the regrowth and progress Starshadow was making, but much was still not as it was, and might not ever be again. There were still many ruined towers and buildings in the city, and all demonic influence had yet to be fully expunged from Starshadow.
It would take at least a full year for the crystalline heart of the citadel to fully destroy any fel energies left in the area. All fae cities were built on vast floating crystal networks that absorbed and radiated immense magical energy. The fae not only used this magic to build and repair their cities, but to feed and defend themselves as well. All faerie absorbed substantial quantities of magic in addition to the normal food they ate. It was a necessary part of their biology, which was steeped in powerful magic itself. As for defending their cities, the crystal network generated a null field for unacceptable energies, (aka "fel” magics) and acted almost like an organic immune system (except with the capacity to destroy greater demons and even daemons at will).
The fae lord shook himself from his thoughts as he approached the city's heart, his home. It was a beautiful sight to behold, a vast nexus of blue sapphire crystal, its glow growing and fading like a heartbeat. Enormous white barked trees grew around and throughout the nexus itself, dark red leaves intermixed with gold adding splashes of color to the tall mountain of crystal. Fae came and went from the massive arched doorways at the base and midriff of the nexus, some flying, others walking together. There were even some elves and members of other more mortal races milling about. He smiled as he headed towards the highest located doorway. It was guarded by large silver armored fae holding faeblades. The glow of the nexus shone off of their armor and weapons, causing the crescent faeblades to glitter. Kael smiled again, nodding at the guards as he landed softly on the platform before the gate itself.
"In'uthenar everguard, I trust you have had an uneventful evening?" he asked them politely. They grinned at each other before one of them responded.
"Well if you consider a mob of angry nobles *uneventful* my lord, then yes. Apparently there's been a dispute over one of the recently reignited star clusters. We thought we'd be in trouble until lord Ronin showed up and told them all off. You've chosen an impressive life-mate m'lord, if I may be so bold. Kael chuckled.
"He is, isn't he? I don't know why the nobles are throwing such a magnificent fuss over something so absolutely menial. They should have consulted the novakeepers. The stars are returning faster than expected, and another star cluster is sure to return within the year. They would know that if they actually cared about the constellations. All they care about is the status that comes with owning them." Kael rolled his eyes, sneering slightly. The protectors gave each other a knowing look.
"Perhaps it should no longer be possible to *own* the stars at all m'lord? I never found it agreeable or right that anyone, even our people, could own the stars. Aurai'el is the God of light and creation, not the faerie." Kael gave the guard a scrutinizing expression, surprise evident that he had felt comfortable enough to say such a thing, as well as humble. Fae were not known for their humility. The guard's eyes went wide in response before he apologized.
"Forgive my forwardness my prince, that was not my place to say..." The other guard looked at his comrade before glancing at Kael, worry in his face. Kael blinked, before shaking his head and smiling at the two everguard.
"Nonsense! I'm pleased you felt you could give your opinion sir, and you are after all correct. Perhaps I should indeed do something about the legal state of our stars." He nodded a final time to the two guards before saying, "Thank you for your candor. You two are free to go, I won't accept anymore *guests* or annoyed nobles today. A’yano Selai my friends, be well."
"A'yano Selai prince Kael, thank you my lord," they both replied. As they turned to leave they made several gestures at the arch, a thin but extremely strong crystal barrier growing quickly into place, sealing the door. Kael continued to walk down the corridor into a vast hall, his robes swirling around him. Something akin to a summer breeze wafted through the hall almost like a wisp.
The hall itself was magnificent, the sapphire crystal of the walls glowing softly. Flowering vines and plants grew on the walls. Miniature stars of yellow, white, red, and blue hung in the air near the high ceiling, bright light shining from them. Carved into the walls were eons old legends, stories, and epochs of lost faerie hero's and their many exploits. They also told the history of Starshadow and all it's people. Servants, officials, and many others walked or flew down the hall, or to and from the many doors adjoined to it. Kael walked down the tall arched hallway, headed towards his personal quarters hoping to avoid any government officials on the way. He was disappointed when one lithe female fae stopped him, but smiled as she approached.
"Greetings prince Kael, I was wondering if I could bother you for a quick moment my lord," she said, bowing slightly. Kael nodded to her before replying.
"Greetings m'lady, how may I be of service?" She handed him a long writing crystal, and several pieces of parchment.
"These are the new defense plans you had drawn up a fortnight ago. All we need is your signature, and we can see to it that demons never use the method they did to destroy this city last time again." Kael glanced over the paper, instantly recognizing what it was.
"Fantastic, I'll sign this for you now... and you are?" She smiled at him warmly before glancing at the ground.
"Zamara my lord, your new secondary shardsinger. I am now in charge of rebuilding the final military and scientific aspects of Starshadow. I hope you find my work pleasing," she said quickly. Kael handed the parchment and crystal back to her (the crystal acts like a pen, but using captured light as "ink" so to speak).
"I'm sure I will m'lady, be well and I look forward to hearing you sing," he said. He winked at her once and nodded a final time before striding away. Zamara hugged the parchment to her chest, staring off at the fae prince before jogging the opposite direction down the hall.
Kael continued his trek down the long hallway. There were actually three circle hallways set at different levels within the nexus fortress. This was the topmost one, and also the shortest, though it was still quite long. He finally reached the wide door to his chambers with a loud sigh. The crystal barrier retreated as he walked towards it, stairs becoming visible. He walked up the wide spiral staircase that led to the highest tip of the crystal mountain that was the nexus. This was where his home was located. Kael walked through a final crystal arch into a large reception area. Low cushions were spread in various areas, and a wide open window curved in the circular rooms left wall. It was open to the sky, which had gotten very dark. Flowering plants and vines grew all over the carved walls, and three of the same miniature stars that hung in the main hall glowed brightly near the cone shaped roof. He grinned as a large male phaser glided through the air towards him. It jumped on his shoulders, nearly knocking Kael to the ground. He laughed happily.
"Ahaha did you miss me boy? Sorry I was gone for so long, but being the high prince of a fae city is nigh impossible. Especially one as big as Starshadow," he said, chasing the phaser around in a circle as it leapt through the air.
Phasers were medium sized, winged creatures, similar in appearance to other fae animals just with a much more predatory cast to them. They had bodies and faces almost like a cross between a dragon and a feline, but also had four nearly transparent wings. A very long, elegant tail (occasionally two) finished their figures, and males had snow white manes that traveled down their backs and tails. Four long whiskers also grew from the tip of their noses. Like many creatures in Auran, they existed partially out of sync with time, and so moved in a smooth almost ghostly way. Their wings beat slowly on their backs, seemingly like a hummingbird trapped in bubble of slowed time. For this reason, (and for the fact that they could travel through most solid objects at will) they are called "phasers".
"I see you're still choosing that animal over me, huh?" a musical deep voice said from a shadowed area of the circular room. A tall, broad, bearded, white haired man leaned against the far wall, his clearly muscled arms across his chest. He wore the casual garb of many faerie warriors, which was loose maroon trousers, and a white silk tunic that left the right arm and the right side of the chest open to the air. This left his intricate tattoo of wind, and two spirit wolves uncovered. One of the wolves was snow white, and the other a dark blood red. What was visible of the man's skin was scarred. He had bright green eyes, was barefoot, and though he looked quite calm he seemed to radiate an aura of barely contained wildness. Kael glanced up at the man, grinning brightly.
"Ronin!" He exclaimed. The big man ran up to him wrapping him in a strong bearhug. Kael felt his feet leave the ground as Ronin kissed him deeply. They both grinned at each other as Ronin held the tall fae in his arms.
"I see Queo wasn't the only one that missed me, eh?" The fae said, glancing at the phaser who was presently staring at the two men. He floated in the air seemingly amused. Ronin rolled his eyes as he set Kael down, hands on the faerie's strong arms.
"Queo can wait his turn Kael; I haven't seen you in almost two days. I should've just come with you, and then I wouldn't have been trapped here," Ronin said, as he rested his forehead against Kael's. They grinned at each other, and Kael leaned in to kiss the werewolf again. He brushed one hand down Ronin's white beard lightly.
"I missed you too, love. Some of us have a city to run/rebuild though, being a high prince and all. Sorry for having a job," the fae replied, before walking to the windowsill. He sat on the edge, gazing out into the city. Ronin sat just behind him. He felt Ronin's thick arms wrap around his waist, hugging him to the werewolf's muscled chest. Kael leaned his head back against the side of the big man's neck, closing his eyes for a moment in a pleased sigh.
"I hear you shut down some nobles at the apex gate today. The two everguard there spoke highly of you," Kael said, amused. Ronin grinned, making a face.
"Cisero and Marcus? I like those two, they have character and noble hearts. As for me I was just doing my job and being a general nuisance," he replied, chuckling. Kael rolled his eyes.
"Good to know their names, I forgot to ask. One of them, Marcus I think, made a very promising suggestion about the reforming star formations. I think It's high time fae arrogance stopped applying to even the stars themselves. Perhaps a law making it impossible to own any future stars?" Ronin raised his eyebrows, surprised.
"You can do that?" Kael laughed mischieviously in response.
"Of course I can, this is my city. Who cares what the other cities have to say about the subject? Besides, anyone who comes to live here is already making many adjustments. Life in Starshadow is different now. Racism, magical purism, and a host of other things seen as acceptable and even necessary by some fae are no longer tolerated here. Why not protect the stars from greed too?"
"I think it's a fantastic idea. Make the stars free for all like they were meant to be," Ronin replied. The werewolf scooted closer to the fae then, resting his chin on Kael's shoulder.
"I really did miss you Kael. It still makes me feel uncomfortable when I'm alone here. Regardless of what you've done to cause your people to accept me, many of them still see me as an abomination to cull." The werewolf shook his head, frustration and no small degree of hurt on his face. Kael frowned harshly, grabbing for one of Ronin's hands.
"Those ignorant, arrogant, boshtari can save their insults and hatred of you and shove it down their cruel throats. You've done more for the faerie peoples then most of them ever have or will in their long lifetimes. Anything they say about you is meaningless or false Ronin, lies and slander that serves completely selfish ends. They couldn't care less about our peoples genetic integrity and magical purity. They simply want someone to bully, so as to confirm their false superiority. They target you because you are kind, not just because you are a werewolf." Kael practically snarled as he spoke, anger dripping from his words like poison. He felt Ronin lay his forehead on the back of his neck, and instantly his rage disappeared. Immediately he felt shameful.
"I'm sorry Keo. I'm sure that's not what was needed. I love you Ronin, and it makes me beyond infuriated to see how so many treat you," Kael apologized, squeezing the big werewolf's hand. Ronin smiled sadly.
"I wasn't always the man I am now either Kael. It’s not like I don’t understand. People, especially near immortal ones like us don't forgive or forget easily. A fae can hold a grudge for a very long time. I don't blame them for how they treat me. I honestly deserved it at one time or another. I truly was an abomination of magic once. It wasn't until you cured the wolf spirit bound to my soul that I became whole again. Demon avatars have never exactly been an acceptable thing."
"Exactly Ronin, ONCE you may have deserved it, but not anymore. You couldn't help what your parents turned you into. That is completely and totally on those two monsters. I helped you because I saw what lay at the heart of the monster I was sent to kill. It was you, my future life-mate and husband. I disobeyed the seers for you. My people are arrogant, fickle, entitled, and overly privileged. They criticize and hate things they have never understood, and because of this have nearly lost any capacity for real empathy. Most of my life was spent with the order of spiritseers so I grew up different. I know better. I just wish the faerie could learn to as well." Kael shook his head, frustration written across his face. Ronin laughed.
"Kael do you not see what you have done? Starshadow is rapidly becoming the most influential city in Auran, and it isn't even completely rebuilt! You have created a place here where the immortal and mortal worlds can coexist, and have built bridges allowing unions like ours to exist at all. Your people respect you, even the ones that think our relationship is disgusting, and you are seen as a hero across several worlds. People can change their minds, even fae. Cisero and Marcus? Faerie men like them wouldn't have grown to exist without someone like you to start a change. It's getting better, just more slowly than either of us would like." Kael smirked.
"I thought I was the one doing the comforting?" Kael teased. Ronin laughed again.
"Well you were, it just backfired. Besides, this was just what I needed to feel better anyways." Kael looked back at the werewolf condescendingly.
"Your husband getting angry, a conversation on Faerie psyche, and then a backfired comfort session?? Forgive me if I'm mildly confused Keo," he said sarcastically. Ronin Chuckled.
"You know what I mean Kael... Come on, It's been a little while and there's something I think you and I both want to do." Kael raised his eyebrows, mischief already apparent on his face.
"I assume you are speaking of more adult activities? But of course, let us drown our problems and stress in sex!!" Ronin rolled his eyes, pulling Kael by the hand to their large bedroom.
"Shut up Kael, you want to do it just as much as I do." The fae grinned devilishly. Suddenly Kael jerked his hand away, and tripped the werewolf on a pile of cushions. Ronin said a couple of words he would not have spoken in polite company. Kael on the other hand was rapidly disintegrating his "princely" persona and returning to his more usual playful self.
"To fuck with reckless abandon, and make the entire nexus go red with envy!? OF COURSE!! Catch me if you can Ronin!!!" Kael laughed maniacally, running from room to room through the house almost trampling one of the servants, and very nearly shattering a vase dating back to the founding days of Starshadow.
It was going to be a very pleasant evening...
