so!!! i did this sketch a while ago (i think at uni??? idk) and it was just a really short minicomic based around Crux (the character on the right) and the i guess, main antagonist of her story???? him name Vital :::) just because the DM for this campaign and I have talked A LOT about these two interacting and some of their future story elements (and i mean WAYYYYYYY in the future) but i just wanted to make a minicomic into a digital so that I can have a visual for the antag!! i havent done that yet so i might as well do it now!! to get into a liiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiittle bit of the lore, crux (and all the elves really) are from a place up north where they fight what are essencially a magic version of clickers from the last of us crux met a guy named Aaven (he was chill) and moved down to the theocratic city-state of Taba’ Tan-Nissieġ for a few years uuuuuuuuntil aaven's death, which wracked her with grief and just left her aimless. so she did the only thing she knew- and that's kill monsters as a wandering bounty hunter given the name 'the silver spindle'

and now for the under-the-cut section in which i actually get to talk more

crux killed aaven. oh yeah baby we're ripping the band-aid RIGHT OFF. i'm inclined to leave it like that, but i'll be nice so ya know how i mentioned those magic zombies? yeah so the reason that's a thing in the first place is bc of a comet that crashed down into the north of the world- elves are an evolutionary byproduct of this but yet another one of these comet-meteor-things crashed down in Taba’ Tan-Nissieġ specifically in the church that Aaven attended the other guy in this artwork -Pontifex Vital- was talking to Aaven that day, and they both survived the events at the church buuuuuuuuuuuuuuuut they both got infected with evil magic fungus (said magic fungus is actually used for magic!! but overusing it leads to yaknow. zombification. future aint lookin bright for Jeoan~~)

Aaven ended up succumbing to the zombification process pretty quickly??? and he asked crux for what's essentially a mercy kill, to keep the city safe, and so crux doesn't need to worry about her friend anymore whoops!!! crux now feels extremely guilty and is still VERY grief-stricken (its been a few months at the time of the story so this is reasonable)

As for Vital, he got a weird strain of fungus that's now puppeting his old ass around- hence why he's so covered, so nobody can see his decomposition (BECAUSE HES UNDER THAT MASK IS JUST A SKULL AND EYES ITS CREEPY I LOVE THIS MY FRIEND IS SO GOOD AT MAKING A STORY APPEALING) but since Vital is now linked to the fungus and it's bullshit and crux has SINCE BIRTH (bc elf) i like to think when the party comes to Taba’ Tan-Nissieġ they'll stay at Aaven's (which was left to crux) and then the next day Vital will show up bc he just KNOWS that crux is back

yeah so that's the world's longest fuckin yapathon about a game that isnt going to be played for YEARS

and now i will leave you with the following information: 1) i have a design and name for a human Vital 2) he was very close friends with Jeoan. Jeoan, who is my planned player character for the prequel campaign and will likely be killed by the same zombification process. (either that or just bad luck lmao)

so when it comes down to it and I (crux) need to kill vital i BETTER cry my eyes out.

so a couple of months ago I've read @narulanth's Land Of The Star Bearers and today this little sketch was thrown together

Ralein is described as "the first who drank from the fires beneath the lands, and by that fire he took shape within the world unto himself". so I chose to interpret that as him being a fire type. the tags also mentioned lung dragons so I've tried to lean into that. I love more lung-adjacent dragons, my own Celestial Beasts were inspired by them rather than western dragons (mainly because. well. floof. anyway)

so yeah this is my interpretation of Ralein's look! I know it's probably very different from what the author has in mind but that's part of the fun really.
