My description
An alien tries to reincarnate in hopes of a new better life, only to wind up in the body of someone who starved to death! He's now forced to learn to survive in this strange post-apocolyptic world filled with hunters and dungeons.
Happy talk like a pirate day! (Sept 19. 2024)
Currently reading: Ship of Magic by Robin Hobb
I just finished reading “The sword of Kaigen” by M.L. Wang and I’m emotionally devastated and overwhelmed at the same time
⭐⭐⭐⭐
Terry Pratchett strikes again. Can I describe the plot of this book? Maybe. I was confused for the majority of the book, but not really in a bad way, more just in a bizarre way. After the Ankh-Morpork arc the plot actually became a bit easier to follow, mostly because Terry couldn't shove then people into one scene anymore (I'm looking at you Barrel ambush scene). The Luggage is by far my favourite character, followed closely by Death (a true icon). The whole sub-plot of this carnivorous chest chasing after the main characters was just too funny. This was truly just a really funny book. I would definitely read one of Pratchett's works again, even more definitely if it includes Death (or, even better, the Luggage).
Like Alice in Wonderland? Like anime? Like goblins? Then give this a read :3

Title: Aurora Rising
Author: Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff
Genre: Sci-Fi Fantasy
Page Count: 470
🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Synopsis:
The year is 2380, and the graduating cadets of Aurora Academy are being assigned their first missions. Star pupil Tyler Jones is ready to recruit the squad of his dreams, but his own boneheaded heroism sees him stuck with the dregs nobody else in the Academy would touch…
A cocky diplomat with a black belt in sarcasm
A sociopath scientist with a fondness for shooting her bunkmates
A smart-ass techwiz with the galaxy’s biggest chip on his shoulder
An alien warrior with anger management issues
A tomboy pilot who’s totally not into him, in case you were wondering
And Ty’s squad isn’t even his biggest problem—that’d be Aurora Jie-Lin O’Malley, the girl he’s just rescued from interdimensional space. Trapped in cryo-sleep for two centuries, Auri is a girl out of time and out of her depth. But she could be the catalyst that starts a war millions of years in the making, and Tyler’s squad of losers, discipline-cases and misfits might just be the last hope for the entire galaxy.
They're not the heroes we deserve. They're just the ones we could find. Nobody panic.
Why I like it:
Incredible diverse characters
Angsty space romance
In Jay’s words: hawt space elf with anger management issues
The bisexual alien icon I've been waiting for
Badass heroine with telekinetic powers
Heroine is also a massive mood at all times
FOUND FAMILY
Higher stakes than any of these losers expected or signed up for
There’s a space masquerade ball and that is very important
Finian de Karran de Seel, read it for him alone if you have to
Lots of hilarious moments
Some moments that hit you right in the feels omg
Awesome action and everyone kicking some ass
Creepy af ancient evil entity that is truly horrifying
I was so addicted to this book I read it in a day. It’s fun, occasionally heartbreaking, and action-packed. Full of mystery, some twists you really don’t see coming, and an amazing ensemble cast of characters. It’s such an amazing book and I really recommend it to everyone.
