Background:
Kael grew up watching heroes leave and never come back. Streets had been filled with banners, but the homes were filled with silence. She learned early that glory didn't feed you and that prayers didn't stop soldiers from kicking in doors.
She survived by becoming a thief and learning tricks from the streets. She stole from merchants tied to the war effort and moved messages that others were too afraid to carry. She even did some scouting work mapping routes that nobody bothered to guard, because they assumed no one would be stupid enough to use them.

When Yusha ( @hxroic-wxlls-fxrever ) had been chosen, Kael was already gone from the capital and returned only after hearing what the kingdom had done to force a child into a role everyone else refused to bear. That's when Kael stopped thinking of the world as something worth saving on its own terms.
She crossed paths with the young hero by accident or maybe inevitability. Pulling her out of daner once and a few times after, but never accepted any thanks. After she decided to stick around and join the hero's party, mostly to keep an eye on things.
Personality:
Kael can be described as cynical, quick-witted and openly irreverent toward authority. The divine included. She believed fear was rational and survival wasn't something to be ashamed off.
She avoided direct fights whenever possible, but not out of cowardice, rather efficiency. If there's a way to end a conflict without being seen or shedding blood, she took it. If it wasn't possible, she made sure the other side never saw it coming.
Despite her attitude, she had one line she'd never be able to cross. Kael never would abandon anyone who was cornered. She knew far too well what it felt like to be offered up for the sake of others' peace of mind.
Overall though, she's rather friendly and can be very much of a tease who never means any harm with it..
